Kaizer Chiefs started this week on a high and a low, the club is known for its strong brand equity around the continent and they have recently diversified their brand by launching potato chips snack range.

In the same breath, the Naturena-based club found itself in hot water due to the misbehavior of their fans. This stamps from the missile-throwing incident that occurred during the MTN8 second leg match against Mamelodi Sundowns and the disturbance after their defeat to SuperSport United.

On Monday the club appeared before the PSL Disciplinary Committee and pleaded guilty to both accounts. Zola Majavu, the PSL prosecutor disclosed that the club have been issued a monetary fine for both incidents however they are further ordered with an automatic spectator ban should they be found guilty of the same offence in the next six month.

“This is what is traditionally referred to as a log out and is contemplated in the rules of the League”.

“Sadly, it will affect other innocent spectators/fans of the club, this is a serious warning issued by the league through its judicial body and it is perfectly contemplated in the rules of the league”.

” The Chair of the DC made a specific plea that all the clubs should heed this warning and do all things necessary to convey the message through whatever channels to the fans that this type of behavior would not be countenanced”.

“There is also recognition that fining the clubs alone will not necessarily deal with this unacceptable conduct hect the automatic log out in the event of a future contravention”.
