Amidst the long weekend, a full round of PSL action is still scheduled for midweek. Defending champions Sundowns and Orlando Pirates won their games on Tuesday and now sit comfortably at the top of the standings. Wednesday will see five games that complete the schedule, with Kaizer Chiefs traveling to AmaZulu, SuperSport hosting TS Galaxy, and a tantalizing Cape derby scheduled for Wednesday night. Our Betting Guide brings context to the action.
AmaZulu vs Kaizer Chiefs
There are a few things to consider when placing a bet. Kaizer Chiefs looked strong in their opening game of the season, but they’ve struggled against AmaZulu in recent years. One win in seven meetings is a modest return, and that run includes a 4-0 thrashing just last year. However, a lot has changed since then, both on and off the field. Another key consideration is the form of both teams this year. 2024 has been a year to forget for both sides. Among the ever-present teams (those that played both last season and this season, without promotion or relegation in between), Chiefs and AmaZulu have struggled the most.
14 & 15 – AmaZulu (14th) and Chiefs (15th) have won the fewest points of all ever-present teams in 2024.

Stellenbosch vs Cape Town City
Cup finals, a better league finish, and CAF involvement suggest that Stellenbosch is slowly usurping Cape Town City as the best team from the Cape. Eric Tinkler may use these achievements to motivate his players, including last season’s league double defeat at the hands of their neighbors. Meanwhile, Steve Barker’s side has just returned from Congo, having successfully qualified for the CAF group stages. Fatigue and playing at Athlone Stadium could work against them here. Despite their Cup exploits and being favored to win this game (around 2.2/1), Stellies have been in poor form in the league.
4 – The opening day defeat marked Stellies’ fourth straight league loss (including last season), their worst-ever run in the competition.

SuperSport vs TS Galaxy
One point from six to start the season wasn’t part of Gavin Hunt’s plan for his 27th PSL season, nor was being away from the dugout. Next up is a home game against TS Galaxy, where SuperSport is favored to secure three points (48% probability). TS Galaxy’s poor away record could be a factor. The Rockets are winless on the road in six league games (seven across all competitions) since April. Ironically, their last away win was against SuperSport United (1-0). This promises to be an intriguing battle.
3 – Sead Ramovic has won three games against Gavin Hunt, more than against any other PSL coach.
