Horse Racing Tips: Charles Dickens To Trounce Rivals In The Cape Classic

There’s plenty of horse racing action to look forward to this weekend, this time at Kenilworth and Greyville.

Kenilworth (Saturday)

Race 2 – Anna Karenina 

Anna Karenina will be looking for her first victory for the second time of asking in Race 2 at Kenilworth. The well-related daughter of Dynasty finished fifth on debut in a decent maiden field, despite losing a length at the start. With Aldo Domeyer aboard this time for the Candice Bass-Robinson stable, the pair should be able to lead this one home for the Drakenstein Stud.

Race 5 – Who Do You Love

The value bet on the day comes in Race 5 as Who Do You Love is priced up way outside the market, despite holding an unbeaten record to her name. The daughter of Rafeed has won all three of her starts in convincing fashion and should relish the step up in trip to 1400m. She does come off a lengthy 20-week lay-off but should run a promising race if not too in need of the run.

Race 6 – Hithemhardsunshine

Race 6 offers punters another potential banker in all exotic bets with Hithemhardsunshine looking tough to oppose in this field. He’s the class of the race and comes into this contest with superb form, winning two of his three starts, and finishing runner-up to the classy Charles Dickens. Grant van Niekerk gets the ride for the first time and drops in a trip back to 1000m, the distance he won over on his debut.

Race 8 – Charles Dickens

The best bet on the card comes in what should be the toughest race to call but certainly isn’t with Charles Dickens being the stand-out class in the race at this year’s running of the Cape Classic. He is undoubtedly the best 3-year-old in the country and should show his class once again. The son of Trippi steps up in distance and should win this contest by a good couple of lengths. A banker for the Pick 6 punters!

Greyville (Sunday)

Race 2 – See It Again

See It Again looks a promising bet on the card at Greyville. The 3-year-old colt from the Michael Roberts yard holds some impressive form lines with a whole host of winners coming out to frank the form from both his runs. He tries the extra furlong, stepping up to 1400m and should take a power of beating with Rachel Venniker aboard.

Race 4 – Rockie Reef

Rockie Reef produced a stellar comeback run, finishing third despite losing a length at the start of her race. She’s must fitter now and steps up to a more suitable trip over a mile. The Peter Muscutt-trained filly also gets the services of Tristan Godden on the saddle, who won his last two starts aboard the daughter of Rockie Bright.

Race 6 – Knight Warrior

The value of the day on Sunday comes in Race 6 in the form of Knight Warrior for Dennis Bosch, who trains and co-owns this 6-year-old gelding. He’s managed an upturn in form over his last two starts, winning his last race after being pipped in his penultimate run. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and can follow up with another win from a neat draw of gate 6.

Race 7 – Reefway

Reefway lived up to her favourite tag last time out as she won impressively to come out of the maidens at just her second time of asking. The daughter of Rafeef returned from her lay-off by winning by over two and a half lengths and will enjoy the extra furlong up to 1400m here. The form has been franked from her last run and she should take the power of beating.
