Fight fans were treated to one of the greatest knockouts in UFC history in April, writes Quintin van Jaarsveld as he selects the month’s top five KOs inside the Octagon.

The month belonged to Max “Blessed” Holloway, who added to his legend with an unforgettable title-clinching tornado of savagery at UFC 301. However, he wasn’t alone in getting fans off their feet.

Here are the five best knockouts April had to offer:

5: Walking Through The Fire

Jiri Prochazka took Aleksandar Rakic’s best shots at UFC 300 and kept marching forward before turning the tables with a brutal barrage in the second round.

4: Seizing The Opportunity

On a three-fight losing skid and coming in on short notice for an injured Manel Kape, Alex Perez maximised his UFC Vegas 91 main event opportunity by scoring a brutal one-punch knockout against the favoured Matheus Nicolau.

3: Kicking Up A Storm

Ignacio Bahamondes capped off a kick-heavy performance against Christos Giagos at UFC Vegas 90 with a picture-perfect walk-off head kick knockout in the first round.

2: Left Hook From Hell

Alex Pereira closed UFC 300 in style, landing his feared left hook flush and a few follow-up shots to wipe out Jamahal Hill in the first round to retain his light heavyweight championship.

1: The Baddest In The Business

In a BMF title fight he was soundly winning, Holloway showed why he’s worthy of the distinction of being the baddest motherf**er in mixed martial arts by throwing caution to the wind and inviting Justin Gaethje to slug it out in the final 10 seconds. The fighting pride of Hawaii proceeded to blow the roof off the T-Mobile Arena by face-planting Gaethje to capture the title, bag an unprecedented $600,000 in performance bonuses and produce his ultimate highlight.
