Wimbledon 2022 – Men’s Betting Favourites

We highlight the tournament favourites ahead of the action at Wimbledon from Novak Djokovic to Rafa Nadal…your best bets. We highlight the men’s tournament betting favourites ahead of the action at Wimbledon.

Australian Open

It’s grass court season and time for strawberries and cream as the 2022 Wimbledon Championships begins on Monday 27th June and finishes on Sunday 10th July.

We highlight the men’s tennis tournament betting favourites ahead of the action at Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is the clear favourite to claim the title again this year. The Serbian arrives with an incredible record having won the tournament three times on the bounce. He has a total of six Wimbledon championships and trails Roger Federer’s all-time record by two. If Djokovic wins in the 2022 tournament will equal the record of legend Pete Sampras and William Renshaw. More importantly, he will claim the 21st Grand Slam career title to edge closer to the “GOAT ” status of 22 titles by Rafael Nadal. The year hasn’t gone quite the way Djokovic would have wanted though – he started by being kicked out of this year’s Australian Open for not being vaccinated. Then he wasn’t able to defend the title he won in 2020. He then lost to his long-time rivalry Nadal in the quarter-finals of the French Open.

Suggested Bet: Djokovic to win

Carlos Alcaraz

It is very funny that at the age of 19, Alcaraz is tipped by many bookies as the second favourite for the Wimbledon title. The young Spaniard has a career of 20 Grand Slam matches and still lacks experience in such a major tournament. In the tournament, he crashed out in the second round last year. But the furthest he has gone in the Grand Slam was Quarter-finals during this year’s French Open in Paris. But with eight wins this year against former Top 10 ranked players, including Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, it shows that Alcaraz is having an incredible season while possessing a threat to any opponent.

Suggested Bet: Alcaraz to win

Rafael Nadal

Can Nadal defy odds and reign supreme on grass? In his illustrious 21-year career, Nadal has managed to win ‘only’ two Wimbledon titles. It is not his favourite playing surface compared to the 14 French Open titles on clay. That is why he got the nickname “King of Clay”. The 36-year-old Spaniard has a chance to do something that no male player has done since 1969 – to win all four Grand Slam trophies in one calendar season. He has already won Australian Open and French Open this year in a quest to rewrite himself into history books. To achieve this, Wimbledon seems to be the biggest obstacle, but time will tell.

Suggested Bet: Nadal to win

Matteo Berrettini

Grass courts tend to favour players cheekily named serve bots, and Berrettini is the most effective player of this type currently on the tour. There’s little question that the service is the biggest weapon for the 11th-ranked Italian, but Berrettini’s proficiency at slicing the backhand to complement his big forehand allows him to be more effective in rallies on grass compared to other surfaces. Since returning from a hand injury, the 2021 Wimbledon runner-up has gone 9-0 en route to titles at Stuttgart and Queen’s Club, both on grass.

Suggested Bet: Berrettini to win
