The French Open in the women’s side promises a wide range of good matches.

French Open

The French Open in the women’s side promises a wide range of good matches. There is no doubt that over the years, the ladies’ draw has been seemingly open to everyone with surprising winners too that have emerged. But World No. 1 Iga Swiatek led the pack as the favorite heading to the main draw. Even though there are a couple of good players her consistent on the court has made her a force to be reckoned. Let’s take a look at the top five favorites.

Iga Swiatek

Arriving as the defending champion, Iga Swiatek will be hungry for more success in Paris. The Polish star player is currently the leading woman player in the world and it is because of the spectacular performances she has delivered on the court. This year after disappointing crushing out of the third round of the Australian Open, she bounced back with victories in Qatar, the Indian Wells Masters, and the Madrid Open. She is also in the final of the Italian open and has set an eye to keeping her good form.

Aryna Sabalenka

The 26-year-old Belarusian ace has caught the tennis fanatics’ eyes over the years with a great display of skills and attitude on the court. Already having won the Australian Open this year, Sabalenka is proving to be one of the consistent players in terms of delivering good results. After crashing out, in the semi-finals last year, she will be willing to go further in the tournament. Her good form indicates that she is capable of winning any title.

Coco Gauff

Building up to the French Open, Coco Gauff had an excellent run in the Italian Open where she lost in the semi-finals to Iga Swiatek. That good run of performance will be a great mental and morale boost to Gauff as she seeks to obtain a maiden French Open title. This year she has already reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam with the Australian Open losing to eventual Champion Aryna Sabalenka. At the age of 20, Gauff has the reputation of being fearless on the court and will be among the players to watch in the French capital city.

Elena Rybakina

The World No. Elena Rybakina has been on top of her form this year. Stuttgart and Abu Dhabi Open are trophies that have been added to her cabinet this year. In the process, the 24-year-old has lost two finals too. After missing Rome due to illness, Rybakina will be in full stretch to give it a go in the French Open. The record might not be on her side as her good run was in the quarter-finals round back in 2021 but her recent form can make any player take note of her.

Ons Jabeur

If form is anything to go by then Ons Jabeur is not considered as the top contender for the French Open. But given that she has reached the third Grand Slam finals in the last two years people put her in line to rediscover her form. Out of seven tournaments, she has participated in it this year, he hasn’t reached the semi-final stage in either of them. But she might have to put her year in another direction as she takes on in French Open. The 29-year-old Tunisian will carry the African hopes of becoming the first continental woman to win the Grand Slam.
