Zakhele Lepasa has made his intentions clear this season, his impressive form is hard to ignore as he bangs goals week in and week out in the Dstv Premiership. The 26-year-old has already scored 9 goals so far in all competitions for Orlando Pirates and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.

The Buccaneer’s main man has never reached a double-figure goal mark in his top-flight football career and is travelling with the speed of light to achieve that milestone.

After scoring a hat-trick in their 5-0 win against Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 quarter-final at Orlando Pirates, Lepasa was oozing with confidence in his man of the match post-match interview which is surely a contributing factor in his impressive performance of late. He could have scored four goals in that match but he missed a penalty.

Continental football is deemed to be challenging, with travelling and climatizing to certain parts of the continent. With Orlando Pirates involved in the CAF Champions League, Lepasa will be a key player for the team to score goals. The Soweto born has already registered 3 goals under his name in the competition, scoring away and at home against Djabal from Comoros.

Lepasa attributed his confidence to the chairman who called him back from his loan span at SuperSport United and motivated him to work hard.

“I want to thank the chairman for believing in me because he’s the one who said I must come back, We need you, you need to work harder. He knows what I am capable of from playing in the development, and how I used to score goals. He’s the one who brought all this confidence in me, and the guys welcomed me back like I never left so I am very happy”.

Seems like we have a thriller of a season to look out to, the sleeping giant looks like has been awakening. Lepasa continued where he left off yesterday, scoring a beauty against Cape Town City.
