Argentina and Croatia will meet for the third time in FIFA World Cup history when they face off in the first semi-final of the 2022 World Cup tomorrow. Both sides booked their semi-final spots with penalty shootout wins over the Netherlands and Brazil respectively. These two nations have faced each other on two occasions during the tournament’s group stages in 1998 and 2018. They have squared off five times since 1994, including three friendlies, winning one apiece and another finishing in a goalless draw. This will be by far the biggest match between them as both sides have a chance of making it to Sunday’s final in Lusail.

The Albicelestes have a score to settle after losing 3-0 to Croatia in their previous meeting in the 2018 world Cup, with goals from Ante Rebic, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic. That defeat meant that Argentina finished second in the group with Croatia topping it and going on to reach the final where they lost to France.
