Josef Zinnbauer has handed his resignation within an immediate effect according to the club’s statement. He resigns just after two-and-a-half years with the Buccaneers and after winning their first trophy (MTN 8 cup last year) in six years.
In a club’s statement, the coach has thanked the chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza for the opportunity to coach the Buccaneers while also touching on his appreciation for the Pirates faithful.
The German suggested being apart from his family is the primary reason to terminate his contract at Sowetan giants, with a record of 35 wins, 20 draws and 13 losses in a total of 68 games as a head coach.
His departure comes after their exit in the MTN8 at the hands of Swallows FC on Saturday, last year Zinnbauer and Pirates won the competition.
SowetanLive have reported that Mandla Ncikazi is expected to lead the team alongside fellow assistant coach Fadlu Davids in the meantime.
