PSL Predictions – Matchday 24

The Soweto derby may be done and dusted, but the PSL title race certainly isn’t. There are plenty of important clashes this weekend with ramifications at both ends of the table.

Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to capitalise on their win over Orlando Pirates, while the chasing pack aims to keep the pressure on Ernst Middendorp’s men.ALSO READ: THE MOST UNDERRATED PLAYERS IN THE PSL

Having won their last three league fixtures, Maritzburg can now realistically set their sights on CAF Confederation Cup football.

Polokwane City remains in a survival fight despite league victories over Cape Town City and Black Leopards. The Team of Choice should be too strong for Clinton Larsen’s charges in this game.

Prediction: Maritzburg to win 2-1

Suggested BET: Maritzburg to win at 0.90

BET: PSLBaroka host Black Leopards at the Peter Mokaba Stadium as 14th plays 15th in a key relegation clash.

Lidoda Duvha looked promising in the early stages under new coach Alan Clark but suffered a worrying 2-1 defeat to Polokwane City on Sunday. Black Leopards can ill afford another slip-up against a fellow Limpopo side.

Bakgaga also suffered away day blues on Sunday, going down 2-1 to Bloemfontein Celtic.

Being on home soil should give Baroka an edge for this one, as Leopards have only picked up five points in 10 fixtures on the road this season.

Prediction: Baroka Win 1-0

Suggested BET: Baroka to win at 1.40

BET: PSLOrlando Pirates seek an instant rebound from Soweto derby disappointment as they visit Golden Arrows at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

Abafana Bes’thende have picked up seven points in their last three games. Steve Komphela’s men are seldom an easy team to beat.

Pirates won six league games in a row before the defeat to Chiefs and it took a superb performance from Daniel Akpeyi to deny them at least a point. Josef Zinnbauer’s men are still on the right track and should be able to grind out a victory.

Prediction: Pirates Win 2-1

Suggested BET: Pirates to win 1.10

BET: PSLBidvest Wits are running out of chances in the title race. As they host Chippa United at Bidvest Stadium, the Clever Boys will know they need to bounce back strong from defeat to SuperSport United.

Chippa have struggled somewhat in recent weeks, suffering heavy defeats to Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United. However, they picked up a vital 1-0 victory over AmaZulu in their last game.

Gavin Hunt’s charges have struggled for consistency this season, but they should grind out a victory on home turf.

Prediction: Chippa United Win 1-0

Suggested BET: Under 2.5 goals at 0.55

BET: PSLIt’s top vs. bottom in the league as Kaizer Chiefs host AmaZulu at FNB Stadium. For both teams, there is little room for error at this crucial stage of the season.

Chiefs lost to Maritzburg United and Highlands Park but showed that they are still the team to beat in their 1-0 Soweto derby victory over Orlando Pirates.

Usuthu, meanwhile, have lost their last three games. The camp appears to be in turmoil and a win against Chiefs away appears to be a tall order.

Prediction: Kaizer Chiefs Win 3-0

Suggested BET: Chiefs to win and over 2.5 goals at 0.85

BET: PSLIn a repeat of the MTN8 final, Highlands Park and SuperSport United do battle on Sunday. The Lions of the North have home advantage for this game at Makhulong Stadium.

Highlands have won their last four home games including a Nedbank Cup penalty shootout victory against Kaizer Chiefs.

SuperSport United are flying high after victory over Wits and will not go down without a fight.

Prediction: Draw 2-2

Suggested BET: BTTS at 1.15

BET: PSLCape Town City host Bloemfontein Celtic at Athlone Stadium in a game with potential ramifications for the MTN8 qualification race.

Jan Olde Riekerink’s men will also be wary of falling back into a relegation fight, particularly with Black Leopards and Baroka facing off this weekend.

Celtic are the form team out of the two but tend to struggle on the road. Meanwhile, City usually plays its best football at home. All factors considered this one looks like it could well be a draw.

Prediction: Draw 2-2

Suggested BET: Double Chance CT – City win or Draw at 0.40

BET: PSL
