PSL Predictions – Matchday 21

With Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns out of league action until February 15, Bidvest Wits, SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates will be looking to make up ground in the PSL title race.

Maritzburg United host Cape Town City at the Harry Gwala Stadium looking to repeat the win they picked up against them when they visited the Mother City in October.

That 1-0 victory was against a team struggling to escape a rut under Benni McCarthy, but City are now showing signs of life under Jan Olde Riekerink.

The Team of Choice are usually formidable at home on Fridays, but head into this game off the back of a 2-1 away loss to Baroka. They will be eager to bounce back straight away.

With City the form team and Maritzburg the home team, a draw is expected for this fixture.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw

Suggested BET: Draw at 1.90

BET: MAR v CTC

Golden Arrows caused problems for SuperSport United in a 1-0 Telkom Knockout win and 0-0 league draw earlier this season. Kaitano Tembo’s men will be looking to claim their revenge at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

Matsatsantsa suffered derby defeat in the 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, but bounced back in style with a 3-0 drubbing of Chippa United. Golden Arrows have been struggling to gather momentum and have just one win in their last seven games.

Abafana Bes’thende have not been as effective lately as they were during the early stages of the season and SuperSport United are tipped to pounce on their problems seeing games out. This is precisely what Kaizer Chiefs did in their 1-0 victory with a late Lebogang Manyama strike.

Prediction: SuperSport United Win 2-1

Suggested BET: Supersport to win at 1.20

BET: GA v SSU

Chippa United seek to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to SuperSport United when they host Orlando Pirates at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. The Buccaneers are looking to continue their rise up the table.

If recent history is anything to go by, Norman Mapeza likely will not be afforded too much time to bring Chippa back to winning ways. This game provides a great opportunity to make a statement of intent.

However, Chippa run the risk of being overpowered by a Pirates team which has taken no prisoners in recent games. The Buccaneers’ star-studded attack is finding form and will likely see Pirates to victory against a vulnerable side.

Prediction: Orlando Pirates Win 3-0

Suggested BET: Pirates and over 1.5 goals at 1.65

BET: CHI v PIR

Highlands Park host Baroka at Makhulong Stadium looking to end a run of three straight defeats.

Unfortunately for Owen da Gama’s men, Bakgaga have just begun to find form themselves and picked up a 2-1 win over Maritzburg United in their last game.

The Lions of the North have had time to reflect since their 3-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates, as their match against Bidvest Wits was postponed. Home advantage should see the struggling side to a draw.

Prediction: 2-2 Draw

Suggested BET: Draw at 2.05

BET: HP v BAR

It is highly unlikely that Stellenbosch will be relegated come May, but on Sunday, they are set to visit a Black Leopards side very much still fighting for survival. Stellies have three wins in a row, but it will be tough to continue that run at Thohoyandou Stadium.

Lidoda Duvha lost 1-0 away to Cape Town City on Friday, but they drew 1-1 to Kaizer Chiefs in their last home fixture. Another draw is predicted here against another one of the PSL’s most in-form teams.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw

Suggested BET: Under 2.5 at 0.60

BET: LEO v STL

We’re in for a relegation six-pointer at Kings Park as AmaZulu and Polokwane City face off. Rise and Shine lead Usuthu only on goal difference at the foot of the league table.

AmaZulu had their bright moments in a 1-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates and home advantage should make a difference as Usuthu are no longer newbies at the home of the Sharks.

Jozef Vukušič will be up against his former club, and with his job reportedly on the line, he is predicted to finally catch a lucky break.

Prediction: AmaZulu Win 2-0

Suggested BET: Amazulu to win at 1.40

BET: AMA v STL

Bidvest Wits will host Black Leopards at Bidvest Stadium once the weekend action is complete. Gavin Hunt’s men remain very much in the title race and will show Cavin Johnson’s struggling side no mercy.

Leopards have a poor record on the road this season with one win, two draws and six defeats in the league. Wits are therefore likely to claim a comfortable win.

Prediction: Bidvest Wits Win 2-0

Suggested BET

BET: PSL
