15:30 – Sekhukhune v Cape Town City

City were imperious in the 4-0 win over Swallows FC in their MTN8 semi-final, reminding us what they are capable of. However, a few days later, they needed a second-half penalty to secure a point against Pirates. It often feels like one step forward, one-step-back when it comes to The Citizens, and Tinkler will be hoping they can be consistent enough to transform their Cup form into the league. Although not spectacular, Sekhukhune have been solid, and currently sit above City on the table. No team has scored more than once in a game against them, but none of their games have seen Over 2.5 goals.

4 – City scored more goals in one MTN8 game against Swallows (4) than they have in five league games this season (3).

Suggested Bet: Under 2.5

Value Bet: Cape Town City to win and under 3.5

17:00 – Supersport United v Baroka FC

Matsatsantsa faced a tricky start to the season, but have stepped up in the first two months of the campaign. They’ve played four sides that were in the Top8 last season – AmaZulu, Cape Town City, Golden Arrows and Swallows (although one can argue it is a different kind of Swallows), and they still remain unbeaten. Twelve points from six matches is their joint-best start in a season since Kaitano Tembo was in charge – in fact, this is the third time (in four seasons) they have the same total after 6 games. The only difference, they remain unbeaten this time.

4 – Supersport are on a run of four successive home wins in the league, and could equal their best run of home wins under Tembo (a run of 5 home wins ending in September 2018).

For Baroka, this is their 20th league game since March, and they’ve scored Over 1.5 goals only once in that period.

Suggested Bet: Supersport to win

Value Bet: Superposrt to win to nil

17:30 – Kaizer Chiefs vs Chippa United

The international break would have come as a welcome reprieve to Stuart Baxter and his beleaguered Chiefs. A very late controversial penalty saved him from becoming the first ever Chiefs manager to lose an away match to AmaZulu in the PSL era, and he will be the first to admit things are not yet going according to plan. Up next on the path to recovery is a familiar foe in Gavin Hunt, a man he will be facing for the 12th time in all competitions. The good thing is he’s only lost twice in their previous eleven meetings (Won 5, Drew 4).

100% – Baxter enjoyed a 100% record against Chippa in his first spell at Chiefs, winning four matches and keeping clean sheets in all matches.

To be fair, he had a somewhat similar record against Amazulu

Suggested Bet: Under 2.5 or Kaizer Chiefs win/draw

Value Bet: Draw

15:30 – Swallows FC v Stellenbosch

If you were to select three teams that would remain unbeaten at this stage of a season, Sundowns and maybe Supersport would be obvious candidates. Seeing Stellenbosch as part of that list is a pleasant surprise – they are one of only three teams still unbeaten in the league this season. A win this weekend against struggling Swallows is not inconceivable and would take them to 15 points from seven games. To put their improvement into context, they had 15 points after 16 games last season.

10 – Stellies are unbeaten in 10 league games going back to last season (W3 D7), their longest unbeaten run since their 2019 promotion.

Their opponents have failed to score in seven consecutive matches in all competitions, since a 1-0 win over Royal AM in August.

Suggested Bet: Stellies win/draw

Value Bet: Draw
