PSL Betting Guide: DStv Premiership Weekend Action

Three of the bottom four sides in the PSL face three of the top four sides this weekend, as the season starts to wind down to an end. There are no easy fixtures, maybe a cliche, but with so much at stake, we’re likely to see some close encounters this weekend. We dug up some stats to bring more context to the weekend that will mark 200 games for the season.

SuperSport United v TS Galaxy

SuperSport are playing at home for the first time in a month, and Gavin Hunt will be one relieved man. They’ve picked up just three points (via three draws) since their last away win on 3 January, but their home form is exemplary. They host TS Galaxy, a team that beat them earlier in the season, so revenge will be on the minds. The Rockets had been on fire in recent weeks, picking up 11 out of 15 points before the defeat to Maritzburg. This one could be close.

0 – SuperSport are the only team unbeaten at home this season (P11 W7 D4 L0).

Chippa United v Orlando Pirates

It seems so long ago that Morgan Mammila led Chippa to four consecutive wins (it’s almost 6 months). But it feels even longer when you consider how far Chippa have fallen off since that run. They have the least wins (1) and have picked up the fewest points (9 from 39) since then, so it’s unsurprising that their season has spiralled into familiar relegation territory. The bad news is that Pirates visit them in good form, and will close to a 4th straight win in the league (something that hasn’t happened in over 3 years). The win v Pirates earlier in the season is fast becoming a fading memory.

Kaizer Chiefs v Marumo Gallants

Since losing to Sundowns towards the end of January, Arthur Zwane’s men have bounced back remarkably. No team has had more points since then (16), thanks in large part to four straight wins. The record extends to five for all competitions, and Chiefs are purring at the moment. Yet, this has always been a tight fixture, with late goals securing a point in a 1-1 draw and all three for Chiefs in a 1-0 win. The other game was goalless.

Swallows FC v Mamelodi Sundowns

There could be plenty of goals when Sundowns visit Swallows on Sunday afternoon, but if that happens, it’s more likely the visitors will have the bigger share. The midweek goalless draw was uncharacteristic and was the first time Downs fired a blank in 21 games. Downs have scored Over 1.5, Over 2.5, and Over 3.5 goals in the preceding Swallows games, and will be keen to rediscover their scoring touch. After all, they have some exciting records in sight.

4 – Swallows have conceded five goals in their last two home games, as many as they did in the 8 previous home games.
