DStv Premiership Betting Guide: Mid-Week Action

A full house schedule for midweek is the last bit of action before a two-week international break.

Mamelodi Sundowns

A full house schedule for midweek is the last bit of action before a two-week international break. We chose three of the most exciting Wednesday matches and drew up a betting guide with all the history and statistical context involved in these ties.

Polokwane City v Mamelodi Sundowns

The champions travel to the newly promoted Polokwane City in what many would consider a mismatch on paper. Yet, City have adjusted to the top-fight quite well, at least better than their compatriots Cape Town Spurs. Like Sundowns, they have a 100% record at home so far, so this won’t be easy even for Rhulani’s galaxy of stars. But this is a Sundowns side close to becoming a PSL hall-of-famer. They need to avoid defeat in their next two games to equal the PSL record for the longest unbeaten run. Not only have they won five of their five games this term they’ve also led at half-time in all five. Hard to see them drop points here.

1 – Sundowns have lost just one of their last 21 league matches against newly-promoted sides, drawing six and winning the other 14.

Stellenbosch FC v Kaizer Chiefs

Stellies have impressed so far this season, and look a tasty price at 28/10 to win against Chiefs tomorrow. Despite losing to SuperSport on the weekend, there has been a lot of positivity surrounding the way they have started the campaign. The opposite is true for the visitors, who will need more than one win to turn some of the negative energy around. One win in five away to Cape-based opposition isn’t a stellar record by Chiefs standards. Yet, the fact that the win came away to Stellies less than a year ago should inspire confidence.

2022 – The last time Stellenbosch lost back-to-back games in the league was against SuperSport and Kaizer Chiefs in October 2022.

Mokora Swallows v Cape Town Spurs

Four games in and four losses for the newly promoted Cape Town Spurs is not the start Coach Shaun Bartlett would have imagined. The management sent out a statement earlier this week backing their man, and a win just before the international break may be just what everyone related to the club needs. With Pirates as the first match after the international break, Swallows away is an opportunity to get some points on the board. Even if the 4.8/1 for a Spurs win looks very long, the 3.15/1 for the draw looks like a good price. After all, Swallows have not started like a house on fire either, winning, losing & drawing one each.
