Baroka FC (16) v Supersport United (8)
The writing seems to be on the wall for Baroka, who have just two games left to save their season. Defeat here could prove fatal, but their home form (19 points) is way better than what they get up to on the road (3 points). They are winless in six games against Supersport, however (Drew 2 Lost 4), and this will be made even harder because Supersport also have a Top 8 place to fight for. Both teams need a result for their respective objectives – safety for Baroka, Top 8 for Supersport. But, despite boasting the leakiest defence, no team has scored over 1.5 goals away to Baroka all season.
1 – Supersport have won just one of their last eight away league games (Drew 4 Lost 3).
Suggested Bet: Supersport win/draw
Cape Town City (2) v AmaZulu (7)
AmaZulu were the team that came nearest to Sundowns last season, and the same may be true for Cape Town City this term. There is much in this for City, who can qualify for CAF football with three points. They are heavy favourites to win on Saturday, and it’s easy to see why – they have won more points than anyone else this year, and are currently enjoying their best unbeaten run since they became a top-flight club (12 games). Yet, the 5-1 drubbing they suffered against AmaZulu in this fixture last season could serve as a warning.
6 – City are winless in six games against AmaZulu, drawing twice and losing four since October 2018.
Suggested Bet: CT City win or draw
Mamelodi Sundowns (1) v Stellenbosch (5)
The champions play their final home game of the season looking to become the first Sundowns side to finish a PSL season without a home loss. That alone should be enough motivation, but Stellies also have their own end-of-season objectives. They still have a slim chance of getting a CAF position, but a Top 8 place may be more realistic. A win will guarantee that, while a draw may also be enough depending on other results. It won’t be easy though:
0 – Stellies are winless against Sundowns since their 2019 promotion, losing four and drawing one of five games.
Suggested Bet: Sundowns to win & under 3.5
Sekhukhune (10) v Kaizer Chiefs (4)
Sekhukhune’s return of seven points from a possible 33 this year borders on embarrassing, but they can be forgiven as they are a newly promoted side who are very safe from relegation. They’ve lost a bit of momentum after Christmas – even Baroka have won more points than them in 2022. A win in the last home game of the season in front of their fans would be a welcome boost. Especially if it’s a win against a side as big as Kaizer Chiefs. Yet, Amakhosi looked sharp against Sundowns recently and could have beaten the champions had they not missed a late penalty.
22 – Only Sundowns (26) have won more points away from home than Chiefs (22).
Suggested Bet: Chiefs win/draw
