RB Leipzig Form

The Red Bulls are struggling in Europe and their last 17 matches have seen seven defeats. After a deserved 1-0 loss at home to Liverpool on matchday three and 3-1 away to Celtic on matchday four. They went into matchday five on the back of a 4-3 loss at Hoffenheim.

They lost 1-0 at Inter in their last European match before a humiliating 5-1 home loss to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. They’ve started to turn things around of late. Last Wednesday, they beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 at home before winning 2-0 at Holstein Kiel on Saturday.

RB Leipzig Team News

Coach Marco Rose is still without key winger Xavi Simons due to injury. Left back David Raum and target man Yussuf Poulsen are also set to miss out.

Central midfielder Eljif Elmas is still an injury concern but Xaver Schlager is available again in the engine room. Young French defender Castello Lukeba is out.

RB Leipzig Motivation

The Red Bulls are out of Europe already. There is nothing to play for except pride and trying to build some momentum.

They will attack Aston Villa and look to win, although the side has tried to be a bit more solid and hard to beat in the last two matches.

Aston Villa Form

Aston Villa have won their last two matches after a really poor run. They suffered four losses in seven fixtures. They lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and 4-1 at Tottenham after three late goals. A 1-0 defeat at Club Brugge in the Champions League came next.

They lost 2-0 at Liverpool and could only draw 2-2 at home vs Crystal Palace. After a solid display to draw 0-0 at home with Juventus, they were thrashed 3-0 at Chelsea. Unai Emery’s side have bounced back since then, beating Brentford 3-1 and Southampton 1-0 at Villa Park.

Aston Villa Team News

Aston Villa will be without Jacob Ramsey in midfield and Leon Bailey is carrying a hamstring problem. Ollie Watkins to expected to return to the XI in place of Jhon Duran in attack.

Lucas Digne is set to start at left back with Ian Maatsen dropping to the bench. Amadou Onana and Matty Cash are hoping for recalls and Jaden Philogene-Bidace could start in place of Bailey on the right.

Aston Villa Motivation

Villa will go to Germany and play quite defensively. That approach has worked for them in this competition so far.

A point would be a good result but they will try to nick and win and get closer to progressing to the next round.
