Hugo Broos Calls Pule Mmodi To Replace Themba Zwane

Pule Mmodi will be the only player to represent Kaizer Chiefs in the national team. His inclusion in the Bafana setup comes after Themba Zwane picked a head injury in the MTN8 Semi-Final against Amakhosi in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Before his call-up, coach Hugo Broos called none of Kaizer Chiefs players into the squad that will face Namibia and DR Congo.

Mmodi is one of the players who has just joined Kaizer Chiefs from Golden Arrows after his impressive season with Abafana Bes’thende last season. His call-up by Hugo Broos comes after an impressive performance against AmaZulu and Stellenbosch FC. The prolific Midfielder has an eye for goals, scoring 3 goals in four matches so far for Amakhosi in the Dstv Premiership, including a recent cracker he scored against Stellenbosch.

The 30-year-old didn’t start the season well after losing his mother, and that took a setback in his performance. When Coach Molefi Ntsiki was asked in the post-match press conference against Stellenbosch about Pule’s form, he praised the team for taking care of the player’s mental well-being.

“The club has got services that are provided to the players to help on the mental side of things, and I think the team did very well. I think he’s a strong individual, and where he comes from has the support of his family. We visited the family, and we could tell there’s enough support, like I said from the team, players, and the technical team we have been there for him to support him through his difficult time”.
