Okay, let’s try to put together a Euro accumulator that will hopefully make watching the first round of games even more interesting. Punter David Kappel has done some analysis on the first games up until Sunday and here is what he’s come up with.
Wales v Switzerland – Under 11 corners – 1.31
Switzerland have won their last six games but went through a run of no victory in seven matches before that. Wales, on the other hand, have lost just two of their last 10 matches, winning five of those. Both teams might enter this game a bit cautious, which could result in a limited amount of goals and corners. Wales had less than 11 corners in 6/7 games, while Switzerland had less than 11 corners in 5/7 games.
Denmark v Finland – Denmark to win – 1.38
Denmark are one of the in-form sides going into the tournament. They’ve lost just two of their last 28 international games (both of them vs world No. 1 Belgium). Finland, meanwhile, are winless in six games, having lost four of those.
Belgium v Russia – Over 1.5 goals – 1.36
Belgium against Russia is another game that shouts goals. There were 14 goals between the two sides in their last three clashes, with Belgium winning two (4-1 and 3-1), while the other ended in a 3-3 draw. Belgium are, of course, one of the favourites for the tournament and have only lost one of their last 23 games. Over this run, only one game had less than two goals in it, albeit it has to be mentioned that it was the most recent one. Russia has had over 1.5 goals in 21 of their last 26 matches.
England v Croatia – Under 11 corners – 1.47
On Sunday, Gareth Southgate’s England face Croatia, who seem far away from the side that reached the 2018 FIFA World Cup final. But they still have some quality players in their ranks, who could make life hard for England. The Three Lions have won their last six games in a row, only conceding once. An interesting stat is that England had 14/16 games without both teams scoring. Croatia, meanwhile, have won just four of their last 13 games and 4/5 matches without both sides finding the back of the net. Pick BTTS no or look at corners, where England had 7/7 with less than 11 corners and Croatia 4/5.
Netherlands v Ukraine – Over 1.5 goals – 1.40
Netherlands are somewhat unpredictable under Frank de Boer, but are unbeaten in 9/10 games. Eight of those saw over 1.5 goals. Ukraine had over 1.5 goals in 19/23 matches and are unbeaten in their last six. On paper, things might point to a Netherlands win but Ukraine have shown they can cause upsets, like when they beat Spain in October or held France to a 1-1 draw in March.
