Matchday 14 of the EPL was utterly engrossing as a plethora of goals were scored across 10 entertaining games. Bet Centrals brings you all the low and high points of the weekend’s action.

Burnley Get A Much Needed 3 Points

A Premier League legend in every respect as a player, Vincent Kompany ranks amongst the best defenders to have graced the Premier League, but as he is quickly learning, success as a player doesn’t necessarily translate to success as a coach.

But he got a much-needed reprieve on Saturday as Burnley won only their 2nd game of the season and moved off the base of the table. It was a resounding win as Burnley put 5 past fellow strugglers Sheffield United. It is a game that Kompany will be hoping will be a catalyst for a turnaround in form as they fight for survival.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Is Now A Leader At Liverpool

It is not just about the winning goal that Trent Alexander-Arnold scored in the 88th in a thriller at Anfield that saw Liverpool beat Fulham 4-3. It is about so much more than that, Alexander-Arnold has become a talisman for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

With Jordan Henderson gone and Virgil van Dijk installed as the club captain, the 25-year-old England international has become another trusted lieutenant for Jurgen Klopp, and on top of that he is in imperious form for the 2nd-placed Liverpool side.

Chelsea Inconsistencies Continue

There is a mixture of chaos and genius in the current Chelsea side. There are moments of stupidity like Conor Gallagher’s tackle which earned him a red card against Brighton, then there is the dazzle we see from the likes of Raheem Sterling and Enzo Fernandez which is saving Chelsea in certain games.

It’s a high this week and a low the next week for Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues. All of this makes for frustrating viewing for Chelsea fans. But there is every reason to believe that when it comes right, Chelsea will be tough to stop.

Man City Doing An Arsenal

Man City rarely drops points in consecutive games, to drop points in 3 consecutive games is unheard of in those quarters, but that is the reality of City’s Premier League form right now. They have dropped 6 points in the last 3 games.

Arsenal slipped up in the Premier League race last season by getting 3 consecutive draws allowing City to catch up. It’s too early in the season to tell whether this will have an effect on the title destination, but if City does fail to retain the league, they may look back at these 3 games and see them as the juncture where they lost it.

High Scoring Sunday

Saturday only had 1 high-scoring game with Burnley getting 5, the rest were all relatively low-scoring games. On Sunday across 5 games a whopping 24 goals were scored leaving the game average at close to 5 goals per game.

Liverpool-Fulham was the highest-scoring game with the ball hitting the back of the net 7 times in that game and Man City-Spurs followed closely behind with 6 goals in an absorbing draw. Chelsea-Brighton produced 5 goals in a busy Sunday afternoon Premier League schedule. It is a good advert for the Premier League for admirers of attacking football – not a good one for defensive purists.
