Matchday 10 came to a conclusion with Man City downing Man United. It had started with a Friday night London derby in the 1st game of the weekend. Bet Central brings you all the talking points.
Dominik Szoboszlai Is Thriving
Dominik Szoboszlai is having the time of his life at Liverpool this season and he was once again Liverpool’s standout player in a clinical performance that saw the Reds move past Nottingham Forest 3-0.
The goals were all scored by a front line in good form at the moment, but it’s the Hungarian midfield that is at the heart of everything good that is happening for Klopp’s side. Szoboszlai thus far is the signing of the season in the Premier League.
Is Vincent Kompany’s Job In Jeopardy?
Burnley have had a solitary win since their reintroduction to Premier League life. The team has played good football, but has been unable to turn that into a good run of results which begs the question – is Vincent Kompany’s job on the line owing to this set of results?
It would seem Burnley are not yet panicking with no indication as yet that they are considering a coaching shake-up. But if there isn’t an upturn in results, then the walls may start closing in on the former Premier League-winning captain.
Spurs Are Striking A Balance
Tottenham Hotspurs remained at the summit of the table after a good 2-1 win over a stubborn Crystal Palace side at Selhurst Park. Spurs scored goals through captain Son Heung-Min and got an own goal from Joel Ward.
Ange Postecoglou is having a dream start to life in London and while there is an attractive style of football, there is substance and defensive discipline evident as well. Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro who are 2 young fullbacks are giving the best of both aspects for Spurs – a sign that there is as much defensive effort as there is attacking freedom.
Marco Silva Can Elevate Fulham In The Premier League
Fulham may have lost against table-topping Spurs away from home last week, but they got a good draw at Brighton and Marco Silva would have been pleased with the resolve of his side and how they’ve faired against some of the in-form sides in the Premier League at the moment.
Spurs’ relentless attack had them constantly trapped in their own half, but the defensive resolve kept what should have been a big score to just 2 goals, the same can be said of the Brighton game. The defensive discipline of Joao Paulinha in particular will be a huge asset for Silva. They pick their moments to launch attacks and their build-up play is patient. The Craven Cottage faithful should be hopeful that Fulham will continue to improve.
Man City Ease Past United
Erling Haaland did what Erling Haaland does, Phil Foden thrived and added the 3rd goal to Haaland’s brace. It was once not good enough for Man United who seem to be running out of ideas as Erik ten Hag’s 2nd season blues persist.
City continues to put pressure on Spurs at the top while their city rivals languish in mid-table. It is clear both will be fighting different things this season.
