South Africa’s Lyle Foster scored his first Premier League goal in stunning fashion for Burnley on Sunday as the Clarets lost 3-1 to Aston Villa. He is the first South African to score in the EPL since Steven Pienaar for Everton against Hull City in October 2013.
The 22-year-old scored his first goal in England’s top flight yesterday in just his second appearance. It was only a consolation for Burnley in the end, but the Burnley and Bafana Bafana man will be eager to push on. Vincent Kompany’s men travel to Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup on Wednesday and then host Tottenham on Saturday in the Premier League.

Foster made quite an impact in Burnley’s return to the EPL, initially starting in their opening match, a 3-0 loss to Manchester City, where he showcased his attacking prowess. He was once again in the starting lineup for their second game on Sunday and managed to pull one back for the Clarets, reducing the score to 2-1 with a skillfully executed strike in the 47th minute. This came after Matty Cash had scored twice for Villa in the first half.
France forward Moussa Diaby sealed the game for Villa in the 61st.
