Match: Chelsea v West Ham
When: Monday, 03 February 2025, 22:00
Where: Stamford Bridge

Chelsea Form

Chelsea are struggling of late with two wins in eight matches in all competitions. In the league, it’s one victory in seven as they’ve dropped to sixth in the table. A0-0 draw at Everton was followed by a poor performance in losing 2-1 at home to Fulham.

A 2-0 loss at relegation-threatened Ipswich was a dire result before dropping points in a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace.

The league form has continued to be poor as they drew 2-2 at home vs Bournemouth before a 3-1 home win over Wolves. Chelsea were poor last week in losing 3-1 at Man City as they allowed 15 shots and 2.50 xG

Chelsea Team News

Enzo Maresca is without injured defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile. Romeo Lavia is a major doubt in midfield whilst Renato Veiga has departed the club for Juventus.

Filip Jörgensen may replace error-prone Robert Sanchez in goal. Players like Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku are set to warm the bench after January transfers were consistently mooted.

Chelsea Motivation

The Blues are in poor form and need a home win. They will attack a slow West Ham defensive unit.

A win takes Chelsea back into the top four. Anything less will feel like a defeat.

West Ham Form

After four losses in eight league matches, West Ham parted ways with coach Julen Lopetegui. That poor streak included heavy losses to Arsenal (5-2), Liverpool (5-0) and Man City (4-1). Graham Potter took the reins and has been slowly trying to improve the side. His first match in charge saw a 2-1 loss at Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

His first league match in charged saw a burgle 3-2 home win over Fulham as they were outshot 21-4 and allowed 1.90 xG. A deserved 2-0 home loss followed to Crystal Palace as the Hammers only put up 0.28 xG from seven shots attempted. Last time out, they fought back to draw 1-1 at Aston Villa.

West Ham Team News

The Hammers will be without Michail Antonio up front for the long-term whilst striker Niclas Fullkrug and defender Jean-Clair Todibo will play no part in this match.

Konstantinos Mavropanos is available in defence after suspension and both Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville could return to the squad after injuries. Lucas Paqueta is expected to shake off a knock to start as the false nine.

West Ham Motivation

Coach Graham Potter has been quite pragmatic so far. His side will look to deliver crosses to the height of Soucek and Paqueta.

The former Chelsea coach will be desperate to leave with a result. A draw would feel like a win.
