Bundesliga Matchday 29 Betting Preview and Tips

So many goals and takeouts from the restart weekend of the Bundesliga – there is a lot to digest with no fans, no celebrations and much more but we already have another matchday this week.

Below, we go through Matchday 29 of the Bundesliga to help you with your bet slips. If you would like a review of the season so far, read this.

Friday 29 March

20:30 – Freiburg (4.70) v Bayer Leverkusen (1.71)

A 3-3 draw away from home – made it 3 consecutive winless games for Freiburg (D2, L1). Notably, they conceded 5 times during that run, with three of those goals coming after the 75th minute. The hosts are yet to draw at home in 9 matches (W5, L4), they’ve scored first in every win and conceding first in every loss. Freiburg have scored only 1 goal across the first 30 minutes at home this season.

Bayer Leverkusen suffered their first defeat in 8 matches (W6, D1), their last 3 matches saw both teams score and over 3.5 goals. The visitors are unbeaten in their last 4 away trips (W3, D1), both teams have scored in their last six (W4, D1, L1). Also Leverkusen have now scored first in 8 of their last 10 away league matches, failing to win just twice when doing so (W6, D1, L1).

Best Bet: Leverkusen win and over 2.5 goals at 2.25

Saturday 30 March

15:30 – Mainz (2.85) v Hoffenheim (2.40)

Mainz enter this game hoping to turn their fortunes around after winning 1 of their last 7 matches (D4, L2). The division’s third-worst home side (W4, D2, L8) have netted just 1.07 goals on average per match and kept only 2 clean sheets from their 14 Bundesliga home games. 

Hoffenheim have been good on the road so far (W5, D5, L3), and possess the division’s second-best defensive away record after conceding only 1.0 goals per match. Hoffenheim’s away league fixtures this term have averaged a league-low 2.31 goals per game. Mainz not only won the reverse fixture (5-1) earlier in the season but they also own the last time these two met at their home (4-2).

Best Bet: BTTS and over 2.5 goals at 1.74

15:30 – Wolfsburg (1.95) v Eintracht Frankfurt (3.70)

Wolfsburg have won just 1 of their last 6 home matches (W1, D3, L2). At their home matches, 9 of the 14 matches saw over 2.5 goals. However, they will be on a high after a 4-1 romping of Bayer Leverkusen.

Eintracht Frankfurt have lost 8 of their last 10 away matches – in their last 3 away matches they’ve conceded an average of 4.33 goals. However, they’ve managed at least a draw in their last 2 visits to Wolfsburg, with 6 of the last 6 head to heads seeing both teams score.

Best Bet: Wolfsburg to win at 1.95

15:30 – Hertha Berlin (1.90) v Augsburg (3.85)

A late penalty for Hertha Berlin meant they are unbeaten in 5 matches (W2, D3), coming from behind to claim a point in each of the draws. Hertha’s last 9 games have seen over 2.5 total goals (4.11 per-match in 90 minutes). Hertha have picked up fewer than half of their points total at home (42.86%).

Augsburg returned to action with a defeat but have since gone 180 minutes of play without conceding a goal (W1, D1). However, don’t expect such heroic defensive displays to continue, given that they shipped 2.6 goals per-game across 10 matches prior. They did beat Hertha in the reverse fixture 4-0 last time out.

15:30 – Schalke (2.55) v Werder Bremen (2.80)

Schalke 04 have lost all 3 games since the restart and are now winless in 10 (D4, L6). 7 of those games saw them fail to score, while 5 of their 6 defeats saw them lose despite a +2 handicap ‘headstart’. They are a league victory in 4 at home (D2, L2). Schalke won the reverse fixture 201 earlier in the season.

Second-bottom Werder Bremen are unbeaten in 2(W1, D1), keeping back-to-back league clean sheets for the first time since late 2018 – they average 2.19 goals average per league match. Claiming 10 more points on their travels than at home, Bremen’s 1-0 away success at Freiburg made it four away league wins this season (D4, L6), all by a 1-goal margin. 

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals at 1.83

18:30 – Bayern Munchen (1.07) v Fortuna Dusseldorf (31.75)

Seeing 3 of their last 4 home league wins produce over 2.5 total second-half goals, Bayern Munich are currently unbeaten in 7 home matches (W6, D1). 

Looking at Bundesliga’s head to head played this century, Bayern have outscored Düsseldorf by an exact 5:1 ratio across first halves. However, each of Düsseldorf’s last three Bundesliga away defeats (against all opponents) have seen them lose the second half ‘to-nil’. Düsseldorf have averaged 2.67 unanswered second-half goals conceded across their last 3 away losses.

Best Bet: Bayern Munich (-2) at 1.60
