Brighton host Liverpool at the AMEX on Saturday in the Premier League’s early kickoff. The hosts are in a very poor run of form and face a Reds side fighting for the title. The Seagulls fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Anfield in October and will be no pushovers despite their recent slump.
Brighton Form
Graham Potter’s side is in their worst form of the season. Having gone on an 11-match winless run earlier in the season, Brighton then had a seven-match unbeaten streak with three wins and four draws. The match must in that run was a 2-0 victory at Watford.
Their last four matches have seen the side lose all of them. A defeat at Man Utd saw a good display but a red card proved damaging. The same can’t be said of losing 3-0 at home to a Burnley side with one win all season at that stage. A 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa and a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle have followed in the last two rounds.
Brighton Team News
Brighton are without Adam Webster at the back. His absence has been a huge blow in recent weeks. Shane Duffy has been struggling at the back and Joel Veltman hasn’t been much better. It could be a back five with Tariq Lamptey as a right-wingback in this one.
Yves Bissouma will surely be recalled after being unused at Newcastle. His presence was badly missed in midfield. Neil Maupay and Adam Lallana will also surely start after being on the bench at St. James’ Park. Enock Mwepu remains absent in midfield.
Brighton Motivation
Potter’s side will play on the front foot. In their current run of defeats, they would take a draw in a heartbeat to stop the rot.
Whilst they could defend in a back five, the side will play out from the back, looking to press and try to keep possession.
Liverpool Form
Liverpool lost 1-0 at home to Inter Milan in midweek, ending 15 matches run without defeat in all competitions. They have kept six clean sheets in their last nine matches. Their last five away matches in the Premier League have brought two wins. A 2-2 draw at Spurs and a 2-2 draw at Chelsea sandwiched a 1-0 loss at Leicester.
Their last two away league matches have seen a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace and a 1-0 win at Burnley. They’ve also won away at Inter Milan (2-0), away at Arsenal (2-0), and won the Carabao Cup (0-0, won on penalties) away from Anfield in recent weeks. Prior to the home loss to Inter, Liverpool beat West Ham 1-0 at home. They produced 1.9 xG to 1.1 xG for the Hammers in a narrow win.
Liverpool Team News
Klopp has Roberto Firmino and Ibrahima Konate both doubtful for this match. Luis Diaz could start with Diogo Jota dropping down to the bench. Thiago Alcantara returned in midweek but may not be risked for this one with Jordan Henderson stepping in.
Naby Keita could also get a start in place of Curtis Jones in midfield. Harvey Elliott is another option, as is James Milner.
Liverpool Motivation
The full focus is on this match. The Premier League title race is a top priority until the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
The side looked complacent and distracted against Inter Milan in midweek but should be totally focused on this one.

Verdict
The Reds should bounce back there with a win. Brighton are in poor form and are missing Webster at the back. They’re one of the PL’s lowest-scoring teams and face a very strong Liverpool backline. A win to nil looks like the best bet.
