Celta, meanwhile, languishes in 14th place on the log, have lost their last two away fixtures, and have tasted three straight defeats against Los Nervionenses.

Alaves v Barcelona (Sunday)

Barcelona travels to Alaves for their La Liga clash this Sunday night as they continue their quest to make sure they end the season in the top four. Fortunately for Barca, they face a side extremely low on confidence and who come off a heavy 4-0 defeat to Real Betis.

Jose Mourinho’s newly-signed Portuguese compatriot, Sergio Oliveira, made the perfect start on his league debut, scoring from the penalty spot in a dramatic 1-0 win over Cagliari that snapped a two-game losing streak after defeats to AC Milan and Juventus. Roma will be aiming for their fifth straight victory over Empoli.

Greuther Furth v Mainz (Saturday)

Bottom-of-the-barrel Greuther Furth played out to their third consecutive stalemate against Arminia Bielefeld last time out, which took their tally for their season to seven points. Monaco v Clermont (Sunday)
