The 2024 SA20 edition was nothing short of spectacular, Sunrisers Eastern Cape successfully defended their title with a scintillating performance against Durban Super Giants at Newlands on Saturday.

The Eastern Cape-based side made their intentions clear from the start of the tournament, finishing top in the group stages with 33 points, just above the finalist Durban Super Giants. Sunrisers Eastern Cape are winning their second consecutive SA20 title and have won it in style registering a massive 204/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

Tom Abell and Tristan Stubbs displayed a stellar performance scoring half-centuries off 34 and 30 balls respectively. Other valuable contributions came from Jordan Hermann and captain Aiden Markram both scoring 42 runs.

Durban Super Giants had a mountain to climb and succumbed under the huge scoreboard pressure. They got bundled out for just 115 in 17 overs. The batter of the season and player of the season, Heinrich Klaasen failed to rise to the occasion and was dismissed for a golden duck by Ottniel Baartmen who trapped him in front of the stumps.
