It wasn’t a vintage weekend of rugby with a number of scrappy affairs, but there was a sprinkling of good points to ponder. Bet Central explores those points.
A Final For The Ages
The Black Ferns and Roses treated the sold-out Eden Park to a classic. The Women’s Rugby World Cup final was one of the best games of the year which had it all. There was drama, passion, heart, and skill galore in an excellent display of rugby
The home team, the Black Ferns, edged pre-tournament favourites England 34-31 in a game that will be long remembered.
Women’s Rugby In A Good Place
Women’s rugby is in a good place, it was evident throughout the showpiece in New Zealand. The skill level and quality of games was evidence that something is being done right in the women’s game.
For Eden Park to be packed and have that sort of atmosphere points to a lot positive emanating from the women’s rugby.
Boks Struggle Continues
The Boks have had so many positives across both their games against Ireland and this past weekend France, but unfortunately fell on the wrong side of the result.
For a world champion outfit, their set of results this year simply hasn’t been good enough and Jacques Nienaber at some point will need to be held accountable.
Italy Stun Australia
In what is becoming an Autumn Nations Series tradition, there always seems to be a shock result that comes of nowhere. Even with all their recent struggles, no one would have seen Australia’s to Italy coming.
Italy were fantastic and were fully valued for their win and while the conversion missed at the end was cruel for Ben Donaldson.
Argentina’s Inconsistency Persists
Throughout the entire season. Argentina have not managed to get 2 victories in a row and it would have been a point of frustration for Michael Cheika who will want to see his side generate some winning momentum.
The key for Argentina should be to improve their discipline if they are to build on historic victories against the All Blacks and England.
