Gallagher Premiership Round 2 Predictions & Betting Tips

The Gallagher Premiership Rugby season continues this weekend following a blockbuster opening round of fixtures.

The Gallagher Premiership Rugby season continues this weekend following a blockbuster opening round of fixtures, as reigning champions, Harlequins take on Worcester Warriors at The Stoop in one of six Round 2 contests.

Gallagher Premiership Preview

Quins got their campaign off to a winning start with an enthralling 26-20 win away at Newcastle Falcons, while the Warriors kicked off their season perfectly with a 36-24 victory over London Irish.

After Quins put eight tries past them in a 50-26 home win last year, Worcester will be out for revenge but Louis Lynagh – son of former Australia captain Michael Lynagh – scored twice in the Londoners’ win at the Falcons and will hope to add to his tally in front of a home faithful that will be celebrating last season’s title triumph on Saturday.

After an impressive 26-9 win against Bristol Bears on the opening weekend, Saracens have a bye week for Round 2.

But the Bears will be looking to bounce back quickly from defeat as they clash with Wasps at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Pat Lam’s men were on the wrong end of a vintage kicking display from Alex Lozowski in Sarries first game back in the top flight since promotion, while Wasps will be eager for their first game of the season after having their bye-week during the opening round of fixtures.

Leicester Tigers will also be looking to build some momentum after a convincing 34-19 win against Exeter Chiefs last week.

On Friday night, they travel to Gloucester Rugby for the Round 2 curtain-raiser, with the Cherry and Whites aiming to recover from a disappointing 34-20 loss away at Northampton Saints.

Meanwhile, the teams they took on last week, the Chiefs and the Saints, face off at Sandy Park.

Rob Baxter’s men beat their opponents 29-26 in June of this year to clinch a crucial bonus point but the Saints had been reduced to 14 men and will looking to cause an upset on the road in Exeter.

Meanwhile, at the Rec, Bath Rugby will take on Newcastle Falcons after both sides had difficult starts to their campaigns.

While the Falcons lost on home soil to Quins, Bath were unlucky to miss out by just one point against Sale Sharks in a tense 20-19 defeat as a stirring comeback fell just short.

And a fascinating weekend of Gallagher Premiership Rugby concludes with London Irish taking on the Sharks at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Irish will be looking for their first win of the season following defeat at Sixways, while Alex Sanderson’s side will hope for a repeat performance from the opening round.

Despite it only being the opening stages of the competition, there is already so much to play for ahead of another week of exciting Gallagher Premiership Rugby action.
