Our rugby punter Neal Hoogwerf was on fire last week picking three from three. With South Africa’s biggest domestic final set to take place on Saturday, he provides the best bet and a value bet ahead of the match.
Currie Cup Final: Bulls v Sharks
Saturday 30 January – 16:40
The Bulls will be looking to add their second trophy in their final match of Jake White’s debut season In Pretoria. It’s been a barren run for the Loftus heavyweights with their last Currie Cup home final coinciding with their last Currie Cup title win in 2009. There were a couple of nervous moments in the semi-final against the Lions, but the Bulls had enough to edge out their rivals 26-21.
The Sharks booked their flights to Pretoria after seeing off Western Province in a slugfest over the weekend. The Sharks, along with Curwin Bosch’s mercurial boot, were too good for the hosts as they brought the curtain closed over the Newlands era. The Sharks overturned their previous road woes to record their first away victory of the season.
The Bulls will be looking to boss the set-piece and look to the breakdown specialists to control the pace of the game. The Sharks will be looking to battle the altitude and hope that the Bulls discipline leads to Bosch knocking over penalties to keep the scoreboard ticking. In finals rugby, experience is what counts and it’s tough to see past the Bulls with the stellar squad that they have assembled. I’ll be backing Duane to lift the trophy on Saturday.
