Alexander Zverev won gold in the men’s tennis with a straight sets victory over Karen Khachanov. Novak Djokovic, who had been the favourite before the tournament began, had earlier lost his semi-final to Zverev and then missed out on bronze.
Meanwhile, Nijel Amos went down in the men’s 800m semi-finals along with Isaiah Jewett, which appeared to end his gold medal dream. However, Amos was allowed to compete in the final after it was ruled that he was tripped.
