NFL Week 2 Predictions – Best Bets. After getting 11/15 last week, NFL Punter James Godlonton takes us through selected games.

We are in week 2 of a brand new season of NFL action. After getting 11/15 last week, NFL Punter James Godlonton takes us through selected games and provides the best bet for six games. You can also listen to the podcast version below.

JAX Jaguars v DEN Broncos (Sunday – 19:00)

The Jaguars put in a woeful opening display, losing heavily to another high draft pick candidate in the Texans. Trevor Lawrence had a rough start to his NFL career and this week they host the Broncos who will pose an even more challenging defence to score on. Don’t expect them to put up many points.

The Broncos beat up on a poor Giants team but this week will be no different as they face an even weaker Jaguars team. The defence showed why they are considered up there with the best, limiting the Giants to just 7 points until the final play of the game. Additionally, Teddy Bridgewater looked comfortable in orange and threw for 264 yards and 2 TDs whilst completing an efficient 78% of his passes.
Expect the Broncos to keep rolling and win this one comfortably.

Suggested: Broncos -6

MIA Dolphins v BUF Bills (Sunday – 19:00)

Tua led his team to an opening day victory when they upset the Patriots in their own backyard. However, had Harris not fumbled the ball on the nine-yard line, the Dolphins would almost certainly found themselves behind and needing a game-winning drive. The Dolphins struggled on offence against a stout defence and this week will be no different when they face the Bills. Tua needs to progress if he doesn’t want the Dolphins to start looking elsewhere and the pressure will only keep mounting.

The Steelers shocked the Bills when they outscored them 23-6 in the second half on the way to a surprise victory. The Bills offence wasn’t firing on all cylinders but they lead for most of the game until momentum swung heavily in the fourth quarter. The Steelers scored and then on the Bills next drive they blocked a Bills punt and returned it for a touchdown. Josh Allen wasn’t as good as we know he can be, but he’ll along with the rest of the team will be desperate to shake off the loss and get one over their division rivals.

Expect this to be a tight affair with both defences allowing limited chances, but the Bills are the better team and will edge this.

Suggested Bet: Bills to win

IND Colts v LA Rams (Sunday – 19:00)

The Colts weren’t terrible at home against the Seahawks but they just didn’t have enough to get the job done. Twice they failed to convert on 4th and 1 and the Seahawks punished them for it. Their defence was neither good nor bad against a Seahawks team that is loaded with weapons. The problem is, they will come up against a team that is just as dynamic on offence when they face the Rams. Carson Wentz will need to step up his game and his O-Line will need to give him a chance to do so if they want anything out of this contest.

The Rams are coming off a blowout win whereby they thrashed the Bears. New QB Matt Stafford had an excellent first game completing 20 of 26 for 321 yards and 3 TDs. He showed fans why the Rams valued him so much so that they traded Goff and two first-round picks to get him. He’ll have a tougher task against the Colts, but he has more than enough weapons to make it work.

The Rams are one of the best teams in the NFC and they are well balanced on offence and defence. If Stafford isn’t able to blow out this defence trust in Aaron Donald to make up for it by putting Wentz on the ground multiple times. Rams to win this and cover the spread.

Suggested Bet: Rams -3.5

ARI Cardinals vs MIN Vikings (Sunday – 22:05)

The Cardinals were one of the surprise packages in Week 1 absolutely hammering the Titans on the road. The Titans were pre-game favourites and being touted as Super Bowl contenders after a solid 2020 and the addition of Julio Jones. They had no answers at all for the Cardinals pass rush and Chandler Jones totalled a ridiculous 5.0 sacks! Kyler Murray was also dynamic as ever, throwing for almost 300 yards, 4 TDs and rushing for another.

The Vikings suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Bengals after staging a valiant comeback after trailing for the majority of the game. They are on the road again and face an even more difficult challenge in the Cardinals. Kirk Cousins was sacked 3 times and if the Titans game was anything to go by, the Cardinals will be putting heaps of pressure on him. Dalvin Cook also struggled to get going only averaging 3.0 yards per carry and against a defence that limited Derrick Henry to only 3.4 yards in week 1, it may be another tough week.

The Cardinals are at home and coming off a big win, expect them to keep rolling and comfortably beat the Vikings.

Suggested Bet: Cardinals -3.5

LA Chargers v DAL Cowboys (Sunday – 22:25)

The Chargers snuck past the Washington Football Team in week 1 with a solid if somewhat unspectacular display. Justin Herbert showed flashes of the player who won NFL Rookie of the Year but will need to improve if he’s to outscore his opponent this week.

In sport, people are quick to criticise fans for celebrating a “moral victory” after a loss, but as far as “moral victories” go, this was as good as it gets. The Cowboys were terrible for the most part last season and faced with the daunting challenge of playing the Super Bowl champs on the road, they put in a really impressive performance. Dak, in one game, has shown that he has the talent to pick up right where he left off before the horror injury and he has more than enough weapons to score on any defence.

The Cowboys have more than enough firepower to cause an upset this weekend and @2.45, the odds are just too good.

Suggested Bet: Cowboys to win (GREAT VALUE)

BAL Ravens vs KC Chiefs (Monday – 02:20)

The Ravens had a tumultuous week right before the season opener, losing their second and third choice running backs to season-ending injuries after already being without starter JK Dobbins. They have fortified their depth by signing a bunch of familiar names in Le’Veon Bell, Latavius Murray, Devonta Freeman and Trenton Cannon but will still be concerned over the efficiency of their run-based offence.

Teams have shown that the way to compete with the Chiefs is to run the ball well and take your opportunities in the passing game when they come. It remains to be seen whether the Ravens will be able to run the ball effectively AND whether Lamar can step up as a passer of the football.

The Chiefs showed why they are favourites to make their third Super Bowl appearance in a row in their win over the Browns. The Browns were fantastic for 3 quarters, but the chiefs showed why you have to play your best for the full 60 minutes. Mahomes showed again why he’s a generational talent and his favourite targets in Hill and Kelce were again dominant. Pat Mahomes has never lost a game in September, throwing 35 TDs to 0 Interceptions and there is no reason to think this streak will end.

Even though they are on the road, expect the Chiefs to cover this spread comfortably.

Suggested Bet: Chiefs -3.5
