Football clubs around the world are on a quest to acquire their preferred players and are doing whatever it takes to earn their signatures. In this piece, we look at the biggest signings so far around the world.

5: Manchester City Wins The Champions League

Manchester City recorded the first Champions League trophy winning 1-0 against Inter Milan. Since Abu Dhabi United Group took over as the club owners in 2008, they have been investing largely in getting the best players in order to rule Europe. The success in England has come from winning the league on six occasions in a space of 15 years. But that dominance hasn’t been stretched to the continental competition.

4: Australia Champions Once Again

Australia proved too many fans regarded as the best cricket nation in the world. This comes after they emerged victorious beating India to clinch the sixth ODI World Cup title.
Travis Head was the top performer on the day scoring 137 to set his side to a six-wicket win.

What is so special about the victory is that Ausisses managed to beat the opponent at home. For India, the loss brought some heartbreak, especially arriving at the match as the prime favorite to win at home.

3: Le Bron James Becomes NBA All-time Pointscorer

Los Angeles Lakers forward Le Bron James cemented his status as one of the greatest basketball stars of all time. The 38-year-old ever-green passed Abdul-Jabbar’s mark of
38,387 points to become the all-time leader in the 20 seasons playing the game. With Jabbar taking him 1 560 to set the mark, James required 1 400 appearances to set the record.

2: Unseeded Vondrousova Wins Wimbledon Open

In one of the best tennis moments this year Unseeded Marketa Vondrousova produced one of the classic performances defeating the tournament favorite Ons Jabeur to clinch the Wimbledon Open.

The Czech Republic national won the match 6-4, 6-4 having recovered from 3-1 in the first set. It is hard to believe that Vondrousova was ranked outside the top 100 in the world eight months before the competition. That performance prevented Jabeur from becoming the first African player to win the Grand Slam.

1: Springbok Wins The World Cup For A Record Time

Springbok entered the World Cup in France as one of the favorites having won the last edition in 2019. Then they lived up to the favorite tag dramatically winning the final and defeating New Zealand 12-11.

That victory cemented the status as the kings of the World having won the tournament in the fourth record time. No side has won it more. Their route to the final wasn’t an easy one winning by a small margin against France and England in the Quarter-final and Semi-final respectively.
