For the 10th time in 20 years, Tom Brady leads a team to the biggest event in American sport. He is seeking to direct the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their second-ever Lombardi Trophy and gain an unprecedented seventh championship ring. He’s already the only player with six.
It won’t be easy. In his way are the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, who won the NFL MVP in 2018, just his second pro season and first as a starter, and the Super Bowl MVP in his third year.

Kansas City Chiefs v Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Two icons, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady were almost fated to face off in the playoffs. The QB’s personal battle is the big story but there are many other subplots as well These are two of the NFL’s best offences and this should be an epic game on Sunday afternoon.
Match Winner
Just as they were last year, Kansas City are slight favourites for the big one. However, underdogs have traditionally done well in Super Bowl with the underdogs winning six times in the last nine years.
Tampa Bay have been underdogs five times this season, they are 3-2 straight-up in those games. Also, The Bucs have won seven in a row. Kansas City have lost just one game that Patrick Mahomes has started, a 40-32 thriller against the Raiders back in October.
We reckon Tom Brady and Tampa will edge Mahomes and The Chiefs.
Best Bet: Tampa Bay to win at 2.45
Handicap
As underdogs, Tampa Bay are one of the NFL’s best teams winning 3-2 and covering in four of the five spread. They are tied with the Steelers for the NFL’s top mark.
The Chiefs, for all their achievements, have not been a punter’s friend lately. They’ve covered the spread only twice in their last nine games, a fortnight ago against The Bills and a big win over the humble Jets. But they’ve also been major favourites for the most part.
When the spread is under six points, Kansas City are 4-1. Favourites have covered the spread in three of the last four Super Bowls, but underdogs had hit in eight of the nine games prior. Again, we go with Tampa Bay.
Best Bet: Tampa Bay +3 at 1.96
Points
Interestingly, the opening points total would rank as the third-highest in Super Bowl history. Offence is the trend in the NFL with such high quality QB’s. Also, the overs landed in both the NFC and AFC Championship games. These teams combined to average 60.3 ppg – Tampa ranks second in scoring at 30.7 ppg while the Chiefs were fifth at 29.6. The Over is 6-2 in the last eight Super Bowls.
Both teams rank in the top four in pass yards while ranking 15th and 23rd, respectively, in pass defence. The Bucs (22.3 ppg) and Chiefs (22.4) ranked ninth and 10th in points allowed – the combined 44.7 ppg makes us take the unders on this one.
