SOLINAS FACING THE AXE IF CHIEFS LOSE TO PIRATES

Giovanni Solinas’ Kaizer Chiefs meet Orlando Pirates in the semi-final of the Telkom Knockout on Saturday.

Insiders say the top brass at Kaizer Chiefs haven’t been impressed with the team’s recent performances. I hope Giovanni Solinas’ CV is updated because should Kaizer Chiefs lose this weekend, he will be searching for a new job on career24.com.

There might not be a worse job than being a professional soccer coach. When the team is winning; the players get all the awards and praise but, when the team loses; it’s always coach’s fault. It’s sort of like being a parent. When your child is a Magna Cum Laude student; he gets all the credit but, when he is a straight D student; you didn’t raise the dummy right.

When asked about rumours of Giovanni Solinas’ impending axe Kaizer Chiefs football manager said: “There’s nothing of such. I think it’s just speculation – it’s media speculation‚”

Hired at the beginning of the season, Giovanni Solinas was always going to have it tough at Kaizer Chiefs.

He walked into a big club that had not won a trophy in three years. His Kaizer Chiefs side were bounced out of the MTN 8 by Supersport United, they aren’t looking likely to win the league, and their first team central defender’s parents were blamed for no raising him right:

It’s still early in the 2018/2019 season but, I wouldn’t put a cent on Kaizer Chiefs clinching the Absa Premiership title. They have a below average squad that has no depth.

Not having the right players is one thing, not using the players you have correctly is another. Solinas has chopped and changed his first team and his formation. He doesn’t seem to know who his best eleven is or, how best set up his team.

Supporters aren’t happy. Kaizer Chiefs management will try by all means to avoid another Steve Komphela situation.

Saturday’s game comes as an opportunity for the Italian coach to impress the supporters and the big wigs drinking whiskey in the hospitality suites. He will have 2016/17 PSL Player of the Season Lebogang Manyama back from injury. Veteran striker Bernard Parker will also be available for selection if the old age home allows.

Giovanni Solinas might pull the rabbit out the hat and show doubting Kaizer Chiefs supporters what he can do with all his players healthy.

It’s simple, a loss will mean ‘Ciao Ciao’ (that’s Italian for ‘bye-bye’) a win will mean ‘Grazie Dio!’ (that’s Italian for ‘phew!’)

If he is sent packing by Amakhosi, Free State Stars are said to be keen to have the Italian back in Bethlehem. Ea Lla Koto has been watching developments closely. Should he get the sack, he may not have to apply on career24.com after all.
