8 TIPS BETTING – THE CAPE TOWN SEVENS

There are few things I’ve learnt winning and losing bets on Sevens. Whilst the viewing pleasure peaks on the weekend with the knockout rounds, pool games provide a more liberal base for betting.

To help you take advantage of a sunny Friday at the Cape Town leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, here are eight tips to get involved in.

Points, points and more points. Australia and Ireland played some attractive rugby last weekend. The two teams met in Dubai and ended with a total of 66 points. Some more attacking rugby of that calibre and this looks the bet of the day.

Tip: Over 41.5 Points

BET: AUS v IREAn interesting match up between two unpredictable teams. Kenya love playing in Cape Town, and the fans love them, but the new look Samoans will win this by more than a try. They’ve started the series strongly by covering 4 out of 6 spreads in Dubai.

Prediction: Samoa -5.5

BET: SAM v KENFrance were some what the surprise package last week after beating Argentina, Japan and covering against Fiji. They played England in the quarter finals and lost in the last seconds. Their ability to keep teams out makes them strong contenders to cover most of their spreads this weekend.

Prediction: France -11.5

BET: FRA v SPAOn average, Scotland conceded an average of 33 points a game. Plus the 11 points England average and there is your spread. England will come out firing in the first half and then ease off in the second. The perfect recipe for points!

Prediction: Over 40.5 Points

BET: ENG v SCOThis one is simple. Canada don’t score points. They only scored 19 points in their first two games in Dubai. On the other hand, Argentina scored 34 in their first two match beating Fiji in the process.

Prediction: Argentina -7.5

BET: ARG v CANThe spread of 26.5 points is rather large so our advice would be on the points. New Zealand scored an average of 25 points a match last week against much stronger opponents than Wales. Wales average 18 points a game. 25 + 18 = 43. It’s quick math.

Prediction: Over 41.5 Points

BET: NZL v WALBoth teams under performed last weekend, especially the USA. Both teams will match each other for tries throughout the 14 minutes. For us, 7.5 is too big for two teams who have similar qualities.

Prediction: USA +7.5

BET: USA v FIJSouth Africa DO NOT concede points. Don’t over think it. South Africa will run away with the victory but won’t be able to score 40 points on their own.

Prediction: Under 39.5 Points

BET: RSA v JAP
