Vaal Horse Racing Betting Tips – 8 June 2020
Racing was given the all-clear from the South African government last Thursday following the decision to reduce the status of the Covid-19 lockdown from Level 4 to Level 3, which allows for the opening of non-contact sports.
There’s a full programme for horseracing fans to look forward to over the next few weeks. The meeting on Tuesday 2 June will be at the Vaal on the Highveld, followed by Kenilworth in Cape Town on Wednesday, Vaal again on Thursday and Friday at Fairview in Port Elizabeth.
Today, we have some quick picks to get you started with your punting.
Vaal – Race 1 – 12:10
Both Fists Of Fire and Royal Escapade showed promise and encouraging improvement prior to being gelded. They’re likely to have made further progress since so should be competitive. Youngster Al Haamy is carded to make his debut days earlier but must be respected if taking his place in this. Watch the betting on newcomers Fantasy Force and Castle Corner. Look for improvement from Giant Slayer who represents a formidable trainer-jockey combination.
7 – Royal Escapade
9 – Al Haamy
1 – Fists Of Fire
10 – Castle Corner
Vaal – Race 5 – 14:35
Bold Ellie acquitted herself well in a similar contest last time when finishing behind a smart sort, to whom she was conceding weight, and a repeat of that effort should see her play a leading role. Top Rank has maintained a degree of consistency and is just a point higher than his last winning mark, so should be included in all bets. Last-start maiden winners Latin Opus and Pucker Up both face a tougher test now on handicap debut from unfavourable wide gates. Bellagio King and Kings are others to consider.
10 – Bold Ellie
5 – Top Rank
1 – Latin Opus
3 – Bellagio King
