There’s plenty of fascinating horse racing feature action to look forward to this weekend from Turffontein and Scottsville.
Turffontein (Saturday)
Race 2 – American Biscuit
American Biscuit has been right there in his last two starts finishing third twice. He gets the services of Richard Fourie in the irons and the pair should be able to finally break the maiden in this contest. The inside draw of six should really aid his cause here as his only real challenger in this race is Free Movement is drawn out wide in 12.
Race 5 – National Star
National Star looks an above average sort and in her last start, she blew the field away to win by over two lengths. She gets the same apprentice aboard in Siyanda Sosibo for this contest and she should take another power of beating here.
Race 6 – Tipsy Taragon
Tipsy Taragon got going a bit too late in her last start, finishing a half a length over much shorter. Tony Peter’s horses look to all be in fine fettle and with Craig Zackey in the irons on Saturday, the pair do look like the right ones in this contest over a much-preferred distance.
Race 9 – Cian The Conqueror
Cian The Conqueror looks to be a top sort and Marco van Rensburg knows the son of William Longsword very well. He has good experience over this course and distance and with the experience under the belt, the pair should be able to get the job done in the run down to the line.
Scottsville (Sunday)
Race 1 – Captain’s Christy
Captain’s Christy beat a very well-thought-of first-timer in her debut run, in the form of Mia’s Athena, she gets the services of Rachel Venniker and with the 1.5kg sex allowance that she gets to claim, she should really be able to put this field to bed if the daughter of Captain of All repeats the form of her first run.
Race 2 – Isn’t She Bonny
Isn’t She Bonny is the selection here to give Rachel Venniker a double to open the card on Sunday. She has been costly to follow but I do believe that she meets the right field in this contest and should be able to break the maiden here.
Race 3 – Flag Bearer
Flag Bearer hails from the visiting Fanie Bronkhorst yard, he comes with decent form and the Scottsville track should suit him down to the ground. The son of Flying The Flag is the selection to win this race with Marco van Rensburg in the irons.
Race 7 – Beyondtheboundary
Beyondtheboundary returns to KZN after a fantastic season in the Cape and gets Sean Veale in the irons for the Alyson Wright stable. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should really be a hard nut to crack in this contest. He is the banker in all bets!
