Bet Central’s top 3 selections at Sha Tin on 7 June
Race 2 – PO TIN HANDICAP (DIV I) (CLASS 4)
Race 2 features our first standout runner on the Sunday Sha Tin card. The 12-runner 1200m Class 4 handicap has a fair mix of young Hong Kong debutants, as well as more established runners in the prime of their careers.
TIP: MONKEY JEWELLERY – Joao Moreira rides our first selection, and is looking to improve on three consecutive 3rd place finishes with a win. He’s a course and distance winner who run more 1200m races that a lot of this field combined. The improvements have all come since partnering with Moreira. Despite not being fancied all three starts this pair have had, each run has shown an ability to win. Should most things go in its favour on Sunday, Joao will have the chance to convert.
Race 5 – TAI HING HANDICAP (CLASS 4)
Race 5 is a Class 4 handicap over 1600m. The 14 runner field is fairly well handicapped and this looks to be a close race. Being made up of plenty regular runners means we’ll need to look for contenders likely to improve the most from their last run.
TIP: LEAP OF FAITH – Joao Moreira rode him last time out to an acceptable 4th place finish, about 2 lengths of the winner. This was a return the track from a 126 rest, which indicates he will likely have needed the run. This time around he will have improved fitness and this should provide scope for improvement. The handy draw of 2 will allow Moreira to get him handy and this looks to be a good winning chance for him.
Race 10 – BUTTERFLY HANDICAP (CLASS 2)
The feature race of the night comes up in the last on the card. Race 10 is a 14-runner handicap over 1400m with a high quality field taking part. There’s a few to like in this one, with a couple of roughies that need inclusion.
TIP: GLORIOUS SPECTRUM – Antoine Hamelin has struck up a nice partnership with this 5 year old gelding. He’s ridden him to two second place finishes since his return to the track, and this 3rd run from the rest in likely to show his peak potential. Last time out he battled it out with another fancy in this race, Dan Control, but we’re siding with the Ricky Yiu trained Glorious Spectrum to go one better based on his ultra-consistent recent runs.
