Our 3 best bets for Happy Valley 13 May
Race 5 – MOUNT COLLINSON HANDICAP (CLASS 4)
Race 5 is a 12 runner sprint race over the 1000m. It has a fair few runners with collateral form and our selection’s starting odds may provide value if he gets underrated based on his last run.
TIP: DAILY DELIGHT – Blake Shinn cracks a nice draw of 4. The 5lb turnaround in weights from the winner of it’s last race, WE THE SOUTH, should bode well. WE THE SOUTH is likely to set the pace as usual, and this may suit it’s mid-pack racing style. He is progressive and I believe can improve on the last effort from a wide draw, having to compete on the rail to finish 4th – not ideal tactics. Hopefully there’s an each way price about him.
Race 6 – CHEUNG LIN SHAN HANDICAP (DIV I) (CLASS 3)
Our second fancy for the day comes in Race 6. It’s seem like there’ll be around 4 of the 11 runners in likely contention, which provides a neat selection to pick a winner from in this Class 3 run over 1200m.
TIP: SMART LEADER – This 6 year old hasn’t won since a course and distance effort in September 2019. He cops a low draw with the help of Joao Moreira onboard. It’ll be a case of his experience versus the youth and accompanying weight advantage aboard STAR LUCK. From an inside draw of 1, it’s likely SMART LEADER will be doing the chasing between the two, but after a strong recent barrier trial, Moreira will be hitting the line hardest.
Race 7 – CHEUNG LIN SHAN HANDICAP (DIV II) (CLASS 3)
In the last of our standout selections for Wednesday, Race 8 brings a consistent knocker that we’re always happy to have our money on. This 12 runner handicap over 1200m should offer a fairly open field of betting.
TIP: VICTORIAM – This 5 year old has registered 3 wins over the distance, and last time out ran well until tiring late on. Zac Purton should be hopping onboard a fitter specimen a couple of weeks on from this run. A handy mid-pack draw of 7 will help, and a repeat of his win at Sha Tin two starts back could be the recipe for success.
