There’s more horse racing action featured this weekend with plenty of value coming your way from Kenilworth and Scottsville.

Kenilworth – (Friday)

Race 1 – Doubling Up

All eyes will be on one first-timer in particular in the opening race on Saturday’s program. Doubling Up is a well-related sort who is a brother to previous Durban July winning horse, Belgarion. The 2-year-old son of Gimmethegreenlight won impressively on debut and can keep his unbeaten run intact. Jockey Grant van Niekerk retains the ride for Andre Nel and how he finished off his last race over 1000m suggests that he’ll be much more at home over the extra furlong.

Race 7 – Kitty Cat Chat

The Western Province Nomads Champagne Stakes throws up a tasty Grade 3 event. The top selection in this field is Kitty Cat Chat from the Brett Crawford stable. The 4-year-old daughter of What’s New Pussycat looks like the class of the race, winning four of her seven races. Luyolo Mxothwa has ridden her in her last three starts and should be able to get the best out of her.

Scottsville – (Saturday)

Race 1 – Kitchakal

Kitchakal from the Duncan Howells yard looks the horse to beat in this contest. He was running on in his debut to finish just over a length of the winner and with that experience under the belt he should really be able to put this field to bed in this contest. He gets in-form Keagan de Melo in the saddle. With him aboard, the pair should really get the meeting of to a good start for punters.

Race 5 – Feeling Groovy

Feeling Groovy from the stable of Glen Kotzen stable looks the right one in this contest. She gets the services of Richard Fourie and after two seconds in her last two starts, she should be able to finally crack the maiden from pole position here. She likes to set the pace in her races and with Fourie in the saddle, she should be the banker in all bets.

Race 6 – Imilenzeyokududuma

Imilenzeyokududuma looks like he may be above average and finds himself in a good position to win another race here for the stable of Peter Muscutt. He has Richard Fourie aboard and he can go on to score to make it a hat-trick of wins. He is drawn the widest, but he does have a touch of class that should carry him through and make him win this quite comfortably.

Race 8 – Alfonsa Spagoni

There’s plenty of value on offer in the final race of Sunday’s program with Alfonsa Spagoni tipped to win Race 8. The 6-year-old son of Toreador had excuses in his last start, losing a length out the gates. Prior to that run, he had won two and finished second in four starts. Apprentice Cole Dicken gets the ride once again for the Mark Dixon stable and should go close.
