Best Bets And Tips From Kenilworth And Greyville

It’s that time of the week again where we look at the weekend’s best bets and tips in the world of horse racing.

Horse Racing at Kenilworth racecourse

It’s that time of the week again where we look at the weekend’s best bets and tips in the world of horse racing. On Saturday, there are a few sprinters that stand out at Kenilworth while it’s a test of stamina at Greyville to see who can go further on Sunday.

Kenilworth – (Saturday)

Race 2 – Ciao Bella

One of the best bets on Saturday’s card at Kenilworth comes in the form of the well-bred Ciao Bella in the famous Varsfontein Stud colours. The daughter of Bela-Bela lost a couple of lengths at the start of her last race but showed plenty of scope on debut to trounce her rivals and draw clear with ease. The rise in a trip to 1500m should work in her favour and looks decent value here.

Race 3 – Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens looks the most impressive of Candice Bass-Robinson’s army of juveniles, which speaks volumes about that talented crop of horses. The son of Trippi has won on both of his starts to date and will relish the step up in distance to 1500m. Aldo Domeyer retains the ride and should keep his unbeaten run intact aboard Charles Dickens.

Race 5 – Whoa Whoa Whoa

It seems like it could be the day to follow the favourites as Whoa Whoa Whoa looks too tough to oppose in Race at Kenilworth. The 3-year-old filly has won three of her four races thus far and shows impressive gate speed. She does come off a 21-week layoff, but Brett Crawford will have her in good shape with Greg Cheyne looking for his second on her.

Race 8 – Resonate

The fourth and final best bet on Saturday’s program comes in the form of the Candice Bass-Robinson-trained Resonate. The 3-year-old gelding has won four of his nine races and was only unplaced in just two of those starts. The son of Twice Over ran on powerfully to win in his comeback run over 1100m. Now over 1200m, Resonate should be at home and will be given a peach of a ride by stable jockey Aldo Domeyer.

Greyville – (Sunday)

Race 1 – Will O Me

Will O Me has found some betting support at this early stage and it’s easy to see why. The 2-year-old daughter of Willow Magic holds impressive form lines, beating Canadian Summer in her last start, who has come out to win twice since that run. This does look like a tricky race to call with two first-timers in the race, but she does seem to have plenty of scopes.

Race 3 – Winter Smoke

One of the better bets on Sunday comes in Race 3 in the form of top sprinter Winter Smoke. The 4-year-old daughter of What A Winter is the class of the race and has been campaigning in much tougher races and ran in a Grade 1 behind champions filly, Captain’s Ransom, last time out. Ryan Munger knows her well and should be in the winner’s enclosure.

Race 7 – Willow Express

Race 7 looks very competitive, but Willow Express has run against stronger in the past and should go close here. The 4-year-old gelding from the Sean Tarry yard has experience on the poly and can notch up his first win over a mile under the guidance of Warren Kennedy. The last time Kennedy rode this horse, he finished third behind Al Muthana, who recently won the Gold Challenge and will compete in this year’s Durban July.

Race 8 – Cape Town Beauty

The weekend’s racing concludes in Race 8 at Greyville where CapeTown Beauty offers plenty of value. Calvin Habib retains the ride after a decent account of herself in a Grade 1 behind Silver Darling. She’ll carry a light mass of just 54kgs and should get back to winning ways. Three of her four wins have come on this course so she should give her punters more confide
