We chat with our golf expert Wade Pretorius after a big weekend in world golf. He provides context to the state of golf and where everything stands after the Canadian Open and LIV Golf event.
South African Charl Schwartzel won the inaugural LIV Golf series on Saturday which is of course Saudi-funded. The tournament received mixed reviews from golding fans but it seems outside of the politics, the competition itself lacked an edge and did not make for good viewing.
Over in Canada, the now de-facto PGA Tour leader and defending champion Rory McIlroy birdied his final two holes on Sunday to win in Toronto.
It was poetic justice as the PGA Tour could not have asked for a better win outside of McIlroy. The Irishman had some strong words about the LIV Golf series and took a shot at Greg Norman who is the CEO of the rebel golf league.
Wade contextualizes the weekend and discusses the state of world golf ahead of the US Open.
