Picking England’s top series bowler is no easy task considering that they are likely to rotate their fast bowlers. Ollie Robinson is the favourite at 3.00, which is not a surprise. It looks like Robinson has put his injury woes behind him and comes into this series in top form. He is one of the players to watch out for in this series.

In this season’s County Championship, he has taken 20 wickets in just three games (including Marnus Labuschagne, at the first attempt). I’d back him to be the series’ top wicket-taker but I don’t see him playing all 5 games.

It’s no secret that Steve Smith enjoys playing in England and against England. He averages 59.68 against them and 60.70 in English conditions. Smith is also in great form after scoring a century in the all-important WTC final against India. I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t end the series as the leading run-scorer, so back him at 3.75.

Australia are slight favourites to win the series at 1.83 with England at 2.50. This will be one of the most tightly contested Ashes series in years, with both teams in great form. Apart from the weather interfering, I don’t expect to see a draw in any of the matches, mainly because of England’s “Bazball” approach.
