SA20’s second edition is entering the final week of the league table. Three teams, Pretoria Capitals, Joburg Super Kings, and MI Cape Town are jostling for the one last place in the semi-finals. On Monday, two of those, Super Kings and MI will battle with each other to increase the chances of progressing to the next round.

MI Cape Town will play host to Joburg Super Kings at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. This is a match that will determine the intentions these teams have of securing a semi-final spot. MI will be hoping the home crowd and pitch conditions can be utilized in their favor on the day. Sitting on nine points on the league-standing, Mi has to win the remaining games to secure a passage to the next round. So are their opponents on the day. They both understand the assignment in front of them and don’t need favors from any teams. So, the showdown is expected after the robin round table.

MI will arrive at the match devastated too much. In the last match, they lost by the slowest 4-run margin to Sunrisers Eastern Cape away from home at St George’s Oval. With the champions electing to bat first, Tom Abell and Aiden Markram both scored half-centuries to take their side to a 175 scoreline. Kagiso Rabada, who has been struggling to make an impact with the ball, took two wickets alongside Nuwan Thushara. Coming to chase, MI batsmen never had a great start. Neither of them managed to adapt and roll.

Even the in-form Ryan Rickleton, a leading run-go-getter in the current campaign has a bad day in the office. A failure to have solid partnerships resulted in a loss. But MI will be thinking about what went wrong on the day. Since the start of the season, they are known for posting good totals and were expected to chase this time around with ease. So welcoming Super Kings, they would wish to get the double of the opponents. The last time these two sides faced each other Rickleton Rassie Van Der Dussen put up a 200runs-opening stand on the race to 243 scorelines. Then opponents bundled out for 145 to suffer a trouncing 98-run defeat.

Meanwhile, Super Kings, have been involved in some unlucky circumstances. Two of their seven games have been washed out by bad weather conditions. On Saturday, it was the same story against Pretoria Capitals. Last year’s semi-finalists have one victory and sitting at the bottom of the league standings with eight points. With booking a ticket to the last four in their hands, this match serves as do or die.

What To Expect

Cool conditions throughout the day. Both teams will have an intention of winning so it except a pulsating clash.
