New Zealand became just the fourth side to win a Test after following on when they beat England by 1 run this morning.

New Zealand defeated England by 1 run to level the series to level the two-match series and also become the second side to win a Test by 1 run. The Black Caps also became just the fourth team to win a Test match after following on.

All the previous instances of teams winning after being forced to follow-on came against Australia – twice by England (Sydney 1894 and Leeds 1981) and India in Kolkata in 2001.

Neil Wagner was on fire on the final day with a barrage of short balls during the afternoon session and he capped off the comeback by taking the final wicket. The South Africa-born ended on figures of 4/62 as the Kiwis won by the barest of margins.
