IPL 2020: Match 49 –CSK v KKR Preview, Prediction, Probable Playing XI and Value bets.

Betting Preview

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 49th game of Dream 11 IPL. While KKR has a lot at stake and they must win the game to remain in the hunt for the fourth spot of the play-offs, CSK has nothing to lose as they are already out of competition and will only play for pride.

CSK have had a very forgetful season and this is the first time in the history of the League that they have failed to make it to the play-offs. With their campaign well dead and buried, that will likely want to try out their bench strength thus making their playing XI even weaker than before. They did win their last game against RCB and their batting performance will imbibe a little confidence in them. But overall, their batting has been pretty dismal and unreliable in the entire tournament and KKR spinners will look to use that to their advantage. Only Sam Curran has managed to show some positive intent, delivering in all three departments.

On the other hand, KKR desperately needs this win to keep their hopes alive. They have been one of the most inconsistent sides in the tournament and have continuously made changes to their playing XI but only a few have worked in their favour. They come into the game after a disappointing loss against KXIP where their batting line-up misfired once again. Barring Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan, all other batsmen looked rusty but there’s not much that can be done about it due to lack of compelling options on the bench.

The return of Sunil Naraine has been a welcome change in their playing XI as he adds depth to the batting as well as bowling. The mystery-spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been exceptionally impressive and the pace-duo of Lockie Ferguson and Pat Cummins have made their bowling a lot more consistent than it was in the first half of the tournament.

Injury and Availability News

Dwayne Bravo (CSK) has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament owing to a groin injury. Andre Russell, who picked up a hamstring injury in the game against RCB, has missed all of KKR’s games since and is unlikely to be available for this match as well.

Probable Playing XI

Chennai Super Kings

Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni ( c&wk ), Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Piyush Chawla, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazelwood

Kolkata Knight Riders

Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Andre Russell/Sunil Naraine, Lockie Ferguson, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy

Key Players to watch out for

Eoin Morgan: KKR’s newly appointed captain had a good start to the season but looked off-coloured in the middle. However, he has made a comeback and is currently the most consistent batsman in KKR’s middle order and is their second-highest run-scorer behind Shubman Gill with 335 runs in 12 games this season. He has shown character and his form might make a difference in the middle overs.

Sam Curran: This English all-rounder is proving out to be a trump card for CSK with him delivering exceptionally in all three departments. He has been Chennai’s highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 13 wickets in 12 games. He comes into the game after registering his best bowling figures of 3 for 19 against RCB this season. With the bat, he has shown that he can hit big shots when the situation demands.

Faf du Plessis: CSK’s most consistent batsman this season, du Plessis has scored 401 runs in 12 games at an average of 40.10. He is the only player in their batting line-up who has shown some character and has given CSK a lot of solid starts in the tournament. He bats through most of Chennai’s innings without giving his wicket away and can dominate any bowling attack on a given day.
