IPL

Gear up for Tuesday’s IPL 2024 action as Lucknow Super Giants take on Mumbai Indians at Ekana Sports City in Lucknow. After two defeats in their last two games, MI’s playoff chances have dropped rapidly, and if they lose this game, they will be in the same boat as RCB. Have a look at our preview and best bets for Match 48 of the season.

Venue: Ekana Sports City

Betting Preview

Lucknow Super Giants thought they had made a strong recovery against Rajasthan, climbing from a shaky 11/2 to a competitive 196/5, thanks to notable innings from KL Rahul (76) and Deepak Hooda (50). Despite Hooda’s critical half-century in a season where he averaged just over 20, their score of 190+ wasn’t enough, as the Royals chased it down with relative ease.

LSG captain KL Rahul remains crucial to his team, entering the match against Mumbai with an average of 42 and three fifties this season, though his top score is 82 and he sports a strike rate of 144. Yash Thakur leads the wicket tally for his team with ten, impressively taking half of those in a 5/30 spell against Gujarat.

Meanwhile, Mumbai came close against Delhi, narrowing a chase of 257 to just ten runs. Despite falling to 140/5, Tim David’s quick 37 off 17 balls, along with Tilak Varma’s 63 from 32, nearly clinched the game. Mumbai, with just three wins from nine matches and a weak record in head-to-heads against LSG, faces a tough challenge. Their bowling, claiming only 48 wickets this season, has seen nearly a third taken by Jasprit Bumrah, who has 14 wickets with a season-best of 5/21.

Suryakumar Yadav was expected to revive MI’s fortunes after his return from the injury. While his 166 in six innings so far, at a strike rate of 171.13, are not bad returns, both the runs per innings and strike rate are down by around 10 compared to last season. He will play a key role if MI are to win this game.

This is a must-win game for both teams and will be tightly contested. We fancy Mumbai Indians to pull off the victory.

Prediction: Mumbai Indians to win at 1.66.

Key Battle: Lucknow skipper KL Rahul is yet to be dismissed by Mumbai, with two unbeaten tons and a total of 206 runs in H2H matches. He has also dominated Mumbai pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who has ineffective figures of 2/143 from 112 balls bowled to him in the IPL.
