IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants v Chennai Super Kings Betting Tips

In their previous matches, Lucknow Super Giants lost to Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets while the Chennai Super Kings were defeated by KKR.

LSG CSK Betting Predictions

Lucknow Super Giants take on the defending champions, the Chennai Super Kings in the seventh match of IPL 2022. Both these teams lost their opening games and will be looking to bounce back.

In their previous matches, Lucknow Super Giants lost to Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets while the Chennai Super Kings were defeated by KKR.

Betting Preview

After falling to 29/4 within five overs, it is fair to say that was pretty much the ball game for the Super Giants in their maiden IPL match, as the team’s batting strike power upfront of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis and Manish Pandey were all dismissed without registering a score of over ten.

Despite that loss, there were actually a number of strong player efforts in the LSG camp. Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni both scored half-centuries, while Dushmantha Chameera (2/22) and Krunal Pandya (1/17) were impressive with ball in hand. Look for a big team improvement if the batting up front fires.

Much like LSG’s opening defeat, Chennai had their top order to blame for their loss to KKR when they slumped to 61/5 after 10.5 overs. Faf du Plessis’ move to RCB has left an obvious void as the new opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway could only combine for three runs, although I feel that they will improve on that significantly.

CSK have a reputation for not rushing into making personnel changes so one would expect Gaikwad and Conway will be given more time to impress. But keep in mind that Chennai’s path to last year’s title was due to their batting department (averaging a league-best 170.81 runs per game), so if improvement is not made quickly, a forced change may be required.

KL Rahul’s IPL record as captain doesn’t justify his talent. In his last 28 matches as captain, his side has only won 11 games, while losing 15, with two producing no result. I see CSK taking advantage of that as they look to bounce back after losing their first game.

Key Stat

The last four powerplay totals at Wankhede Stadium have been less than 45.

CSK have won nine of 14 matches as pre-match favourites at neutral venues since 2019.

Robin Uthappa averages a fifty once every 5.4 innings when batting at three in the IPL.

The last four times that KL Rahul scored less than ten in the IPL, as he did in the previous match, he scored over fifty in his next innings.

75% of the last 16 IPL games at Wankhede Stadium have been won by the team batting second (excluding Super Overs).

Players To Watch

Avesh Khan (LSG) has taken at least one wicket in 11 of his last 13 IPL matches, finishing with either one or three wickets in each of those 11 games. Meanwhile, Dwayne Bravo (CSK) has bowled 60 overs throughout his IPL career at Wankhede Stadium, taking 24 wickets. His average (20.63), strike rate (15.00) and economy (8.25) are all lower at this venue compared with his all-time IPL stats.
