Betting Preview

The 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see a showdown between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Delhi. The two teams have played each other 14 times with CSK dominant with 10 wins compared to four. CSK are currently on a four-match winning streak while SRH are reeling with four losses.

Chennai Super Kings are on a rampage, demolishing teams with complete performances in 4 consecutive matches. They’re coming fresh off an incredible victory against RCB where they broke RCB’s four-match winning streak with a 69-run win. MS Dhoni’s side has got their selection and pitch-reading spot on. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is at the peak of his career and winning matches for them single-handedly. Jadeja put on one of the greatest individual performances with a knock of 28-ball-62 and 3 for 13 in his 4 overs against RCB. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s return to form is a good sign for CSK while Imran Tahir has shown that he has still got it. CSK have become a formidable unit and the team to beat.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are having a pretty ordinary season with only one victory in five. After losing their first three games, SRH made a solid comeback with a nine-wicket win over Punjab Kings. However, SRH lost their very next game against DC in a nail-biting Super Over. Jonny Bairstow’s destructive form at the top of the order is an asset for the team while Kane Williamson playing in his style has provided SRH with stability in the middle order. Even with Williamson’s addition, the middle order is a major headache for SRH. In the bowling department, they have copped two massive blows with injuries to T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Injury and Availability News

CSK’s Moeen Ali has suffered a hamstring injury and could miss another game. Jason Behrendorff will be available after completing the quarantine. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s pacers, T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have suffered injuries.

Probable Playing XI

Pitch and Conditions

Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi has traditionally been a slow surface with great assistance for the spinners. The venue has shorter boundaries which nullifies the difficult pitch to some extent. The average first innings score in IPL 2019 was 156.

Key Players to Watch Out For

Suresh Raina: The CSK southpaw has served the franchise for years and has been an important part of their history. Suresh Raina is the second highest run-scorer in IPL history with 5472 runs to his name at a strike rate of 137. After missing the 2020 edition due to personal reasons, Raina has made a decent start to this season with one fifty against DC. In the possible absence of Moeen Ali, he will have to take on the SRH spinners in the middle overs.

Imran Tahir: The 42-year old is a lively character and one of the most skilful leg-spinners in the world. However, he hasn’t received many opportunities in the IPL for the last couple of years. In his first match of IPL 2021, Tahir bowled an outstanding spell against RCB which almost went unnoticed due to the heroics of Jadeja. He picked up two wickets in his four overs while conceding only 16 runs. Imran Tahir has taken 82 wickets in the IPL at an economy of 7.76, picking a scalp every 16 balls.

Kane Williamson: The New Zealand skipper was on the sidelines for the first three games due to his fitness. In his second match of the tournament, he made an immediate impact against DC. Kane Williamson almost took SRH over the line with his 51-ball-66 knock in a match they eventually lost in a Super Over. Williamson has developed himself into a fine T20 player in recent years. He has scored 1701 runs in the IPL at an average of 41.5 and strike rate of 133.8.

Rashid Khan: The current most valuable player in the Sunrisers Hyderabad lineup can change the course of the match in no time. Rashid Khan has carried the SRH bowling attack on his own, time and again. In IPL 2020, Rashid Khan picked 20 wickets at an incredible season economy of 5.38. This season, he has grabbed six wickets in five matches and has conceded at only 5.60 runs per over. He will, once again, be the key for SRH.

What Bets To Take

Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner to be SRH’s top batsman at 3.00.

Rashid Khan to be SRH’s top bowler at 2.80.

Prediction: Chennai Super Kings to win at 1.68.
