Betting Preview
Halfway through this IPL and we’ve already witnessed some world-class cricket and nail-biting finishes. At least two of the top four slots are still open and the only thing predictable about IPL is its unpredictability. It’s a bottom of the table clash here in the 29th match of Dream 11 IPL as Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Chennai Super Kings.
Starting off the tournament with two back to back losses, SRH somewhat made a comeback winning the next two games. However, thereafter there has been little to rejoice in the Hyderabad camp. They have now lost four of their seven games. Both their openers are in top form as David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have put up some remarkable opening wicket stands.
Their middle order looks inexperienced and weak spot. It hasn’t been put to test much but the likes of Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma have shown that when the situation demands, they can adapt to it and score big runs. Even Kane Williamson looks in good touch and has some useful knocks under his belt. Once considered the best death bowling attack in the IPL, SRH’s bowling doesn’t look as strong with Bhuvaneshwar Kumar missing.
Rashid Khan looks as lethal as ever, especially at the death. His tight spells have been the highlight of SRH’s bowling. T Natrajan’s ability to bowl accurate yorkers have been a revelation for SRH but he needs to do it more consistently at the backend. Sandeep Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed are ineffective in the slog overs and have leaked too many runs.
SRH will come into the game kicking themselves for not closing the game against Rajasthan Royals. They looked in control for the majority of the game before letting it slip away thanks to Tewatia’s heroics. SRH will stick to their plans and take advantage of a weak CSK batting line-up to ensure they win two very crucial points.
CSK have been a shadow of the dominant side they once were in IPL. They’ve won only two games in their seven games and their chances for qualification to the play-offs look very slim. They need to win six of their next seven matches to even have the mathematical possibility of making it to the play-offs.
After winning the season opener against MI convincingly, CSK’s campaign went down in shambles, losing three games on the trot. However, after the three-match losing streak, CSK bounced back strongly and produced a near perfect performance against KXIP. They chased down 178 runs with more than two overs to spare and all 10 wickets in hand. thereafter, they lost their next two matches against KKR and RCB. Chennai once took pride in its spin bowling attack that has failed miserably this season.
When it comes to their batting, Faf du Plessis has been their star performer scoring runs consistently and is third in the orange cap race. Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu have runs under their respective belts. The greatest cause of worry for Chennai is that while chasing, they haven’t quite been able to show the right intent to win the match and lost games that they definitely should have won.
They have often found themselves in situations where there are too many runs to score in too fewer overs. Even while chasing modest totals nobody in the side has stood up and finished the game for CSK. Kedar Jadhav and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have both failed repeatedly this season and are due a big performance. Even with so many flaws, Chennai looks the stronger side on paper and will be hoping to turn the tide around in their favour.

Key Players to watch out for
Faf du Plessis: CSK’s best batsman this season, Faf has scored 307 runs in his 7 games with an average of around 61 and a decent strike rate of 147. He is also the third-highest run-getter this season behind KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. His contributions with the bat have been instrumental in CSK’s victories and he will be depended upon yet again for a solid start and quick runs in the powerplay.
David Warner: One of the best white-ball batsman, Warner has looked in fine touch scoring 275 runs this season and is Dream 11 IPL’s fourth highest run-scorer Warner, alongside Bairstow, has consistently provided SRH with a rock-solid start helping SRH to get to defendable totals. A man of big occasions, expect him to go all guns blazing in an extremely crucial match for his side making CSK bowlers very difficult to contain him.
Rashid Khan: SRH’s most consistent star-performer for quite some time now, Khan has been phenomenal in the recently concluded matches after looking a little off-coloured initially. He registered figures of 14 for 3 against DC, 12 for 0 against CSK and 12 for 3 against KXIP and was Hyderabad’s key bowler in the death after being asked to defend modest totals. Most economical bowler in the history of IPL, he is extremely lethal in the death overs making batsmen struggle to even steal singles. Khan’s ability to exploit the slower ball and his unreadable variations are expected to trouble Chennai batsmen.
